Many hosts disable PHP's exec function because it can be dangerous but it is required for HSBC and a few other payment processors.

You can check if this has been disabled on your server by viewing a phpinfo script and see if it is listed in disabled_functions. If it is disabled then you should contact your host to see if they will help you to re-enable it for your account.

HSBC will sometimes require even more help from your host. If you are having trouble generating a hash after the exec issue is dealt with then they may need to install and/or symlink libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 for you so that will work

It's there but doesn't contain anything helpful
That file should not be viewable!

I configured Brandons VPS and know it has adequate resources so if was slow on that server also then it's something to do with the cart itself. I still have access to his server and looked through his logs for problems with your test install but can't find anything related to this. Might want to have CS-Cart support look into this one

check for an error_log in the store root directory and see if it might contain some hints.

Try it like this

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
var i=0;
galleryConfig.images = new Array();
$product_id = $_GET['product_id'];
$link = mysql_connect("xxxx","xxxx","xxxx");
$query = "SELECT * FROM cscart_product_images_links WHERE product_id =" . $product_id . "";
$results = mysql_query($query);
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($results)) {{/php}

galleryConfig.images[i] = {full:"image.php?object_type=product&image_id={php} echo $row['image_id']; {/php}
", thumb: "image.php?object_type=product&image_id={php} echo $row['image_id'];{/php}" };
{php} } {/php}
