About Me

I believe in everyone's right to transparent and fact-checked information. That's why I always advocate for transparent sources and well-written articles.

What are the features of good reviews?

Few things about me, as I'm a freelance writer and would like to share with you some tips on writing reviews. How can reviews help the customers find good quality services, how to find helpful reviews and how to write a good and informative article review, which covers both advantages and disadvantages of certain companies?

1. Don’t Be Biased

First and foremost if you are a writer never take a side when covering a certain topic, as the reader counts on you being unbiased, critical and informative.

If you are looking for good reviews, be careful with the first few paragraphs which can easily expose whether or not the reader is biased towards a certain product or company. It’s good if the author is both an expert in this field, but also not affiliated with any of the parties.

2. Be Careful With Sponsored Content

Any content labeled “promo” or “sponsored” should be considered of dubious quality, as where money is concerned, the content most likely is not as transparent and vigilant as it should be. In some extreme cases, such articles often resemble advertisements and not proper assessments, overviews or helpful guides. However, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be informative, just take the information or any advantages covered there with a grain of salt.

3. Cover Both Good and Bad Sides

A good review consists of both positive and negative sides to help the reader get the full picture of the service. That way he can understand what are the features and drawbacks of the services and whether or not he is willing to cope with any downsides. It’s good to know what issues you should be aware of in order to avoid unpleasant situations. Take a look at some well-written reviews as an example!

4. Compare the competition

It’s hard to really know whether or not a particular product or service is of good quality if there is no point of comparison. If there are few examples and other mentions the reader is able to relate the prices and features to similar services on the market.

5. Be Transparent

It’s good when all of the sources, statements and features are backed by some sources, whether they are customers’ reviews, own experience, information provided by the company or any other research. That way the reader knows that the author is not making up the pros and cons, but really dug into the topic.
