I've opened a Google Ad url and the exampl.com/product-name?coupon=promo123 automatically applied the promotion.

It's a smart way to make a promotion channel dependant and measure how it works.

Btw, you didn't take into consideration the scenario when the user imports the products first to the store (from ready xml, csv or othe file) and later links the products into variations.

There is a selection mechanism on product list in admin panel. I see the process like this:

1) User first imports all of the products without changing the structure of the import file

2) He selects the products from the products list via available mechanism

3) The user clicks action button -> Group products as variation

4) The user is transfered to a page where he can assign all of the feature variants for each of the product -> clicks save

5) The product variation is created

This is the workflow I use in my store. I believe that many new vendors when they get on the new marketplace they want to first import the products from some kind of ready import file. In the next step they want to optimize the offer on the marketplace.

Another reason is that oftentimes the manufacturer of the goods adds new colors or sizes to existing products. Doing this via import/export or from scratch by disbanding the group requires much more work then via "select & merge" mechanism I've described above.

Pleas consider this input while you're at making changes in product variations.

is there any chance that cs-cart team will provide some kind of validator for Name and Surname field in checkout.

After the upgrade to new checkout we've noticed that about 10% of all of our orders lack surname. We end up calling the customers in order to get the surname or we have problems with shipping companies and integrations with payment gateways.

Probably it's due to the habit of having it in separate fields or maybe some kind of autocomplete mechanisms which are often used by people.

In my country there is no option to have one name and unfortunately, neither Madonna, Cher, Bono, Bjork nor Eminem shop in our store.

It would help a lot to have it in separate fields or provide some kind of validator to check if there are at least 2 words in this field.

Imac, I have a big favor to ask. Could you share the information about billing address implementation. It would be best if you could provide us with some low fidelity mock-up. This way you would prevent the situation that appeared recently when you released 4.10 and surprised us with no billing address.

My main concern is if you will provide ability to differentiate business / individual billing address. We need different set of fields for company (e.g. Tax Identification Number, Company Name) and different for individual.

I've asked about this multiple times but never got the public answer from you. And there are multiple forum topics regarding this matter

I've recorded a video with a checkout process implemented in the biggest Polish e-commerce platform: allegro.pl

They invest loads of money for UX Testing and they have all of the scenarios covered:

1) Different Shipping and Billing Address

2) Ability to have different Billing Address fields for company and individuals

@JohnCarroll cs-cart team will see next days "many people express interest with this", and they will se how will get big problem for cs-cart. any way. i wont update my customer stores without this feature. coz its really important for us, for invoicing.

I've asked too many times for the ability to add radio button to show additional invoice fields. I think that if you will search the forum you will find plenty of interest in this functionality.

I agree that there should be an option to have different billing and shipping address. I will not use the new checkout until this functionality is introduced.

Unfortunately, there are no Bootstrap 4 themes. Even the github repository with bootstrap 3 was never fully functional and was full of bugs.

I believe that until cs-cart doesn't migrate it's main theme to bootstrap 4, it doesn't make any sense to bother with the custom bootstrap 4 theme development. To much hassle with upgrades :-/

As far as I know, cs-cart team doesn't have any plans to support modern front-end frameworks. That's a pity, because in my opinion cs-cart lacks modern themes which is the main factor taken into consideration while choosing e-commerce platform.

The more modern themes, the bigger community. Even though cs-cart is superior in many aspects, it looses many customers to all-shiny platforms :-/

If you're using nginx I would highly recommend to use this config. I had similar issue with many malicious bots and it worked like a charm:

Ikoshin, first of all I would like to thank you for your answer.

I know that you're trying to improve the software and I understand that it is complicated process. Managing this kind of a change in a software architecture and providing backward compatibility is never easy.

Anyway, try to be in our shoes. As an entrepreneur and a person responsible for the e-commerce channel in my organization I need to have some reliable answers on which I can base my decitions and plan the feature growth and actions. Right now, even after your answer I'm still not sure what will hapen in the feature.

1) Should I switch to product variations right now (even though they're in beta and are missing some of the basic features)?

2) Should I wait for the product groups even though in my opinion their design will introduce chaos for the catalog management?

3) Will product variations and product groups be marged together? If yes then when and how? If not, will they function as a separate solutions?

4) How to transform product options in bulk to one of the above solutions? Will this function be available or should I write some kind of a migration tool all by myself?

5) Should I develope missing features as a form of addons for the current state of product variations? If yes, how many changes will you introduce and how expensive will it be for me to keep up with those changes?

As entrepreneurs and store owners we have to keep up with our competitors.

For 1,5 year I've been saying to our teammates that essential e-commerce features they need  are gonna be introduced by cs-cart team very soon. In this time nothing happens and our competitors gain market share in our niche because they've gone with another software vendors.

In e-commerce we make promise to our customers that we will deliver them goods within given time. We don't tell them, give me your money and someday you will get this and that but I can't promise you when it will be and how the delivered product will look like. In my opinion, the second statement shows your behaviour right now.

So please, no more "we will", "we're working on it" etc. Simply tell us exactly when you will introduce final solution and how it will work.

I'm sure you have already figured out the software architecture of this and that you know how the final software will look like. Share this knowledge with us, give us solid timeline and keep the fingers crossed that we will be willing to stick with you until you launch it.

E-commerce is changing dynamically. We need to adapt or we will die.

Imac, the clock is ticking. Any news about ETA of the cs-cart compliance with GDPR? Store owners need to have time to adapt internal procedures and train personel.

Most of modern e-commerce templates are based on Bootstrap 3 and typography is handled by this framework by default. Cs-cart responsive layout is based on bootstrap 2 and converting themes from other systems is painful. That is why I hope that boilerplate project will be polished and soon default theme will be based on it. It would also help to get rid of jquery UI. I believe that this would speed up theme development process and attract more developers to create cs-cart themes.

Me too. Can't wait till you get rid of jquery UI and refactor js. Then it will be perfect
