#178233 Cs-Cart Is Now Forcing You To Pay For "searchanise" If You Want To Us...

Posted by StellarBytes on 25 February 2014 - 06:45 PM

In a nutshell: It is the free version of Searchanise which is being discontinued. Searchanise will be a paid-only ("Pro") model. There will be no search functionality in CS-Cart. There will be little else for CS-Cart customers to stick around for.

Bring back a simple search that works - CS-Cart have in the past and continue to do so - bring in a 3rd parties search function. Shippingkit's is a simple, effective example and very light on load, I cannot say the same for Searchanize in my experience. Failing that, CS-Cart will be gathering up the dust sooner rather than later.

#177003 Import Error Message

Posted by StellarBytes on 06 February 2014 - 09:47 PM

I had great trouble importing products as it doesn't tell you which column/field is the problem. I wish cs-cart would produce a template with a check function like amazon do.

This!!! I think this function exists in almost every other ecommerce software I have ever worked with. Including the poor quality free carts. I almost never use the CSV export/import due to the poor implementation of it, with no way of knowing what the offending data is. Half the time I export and import the same file without changing anything and I end up with new products.

#177000 Updating Urls

Posted by StellarBytes on 06 February 2014 - 09:37 PM

Google will drop the old URL's when it feels necessary, you'll see these in Webmaster Tools. It will also index the new URL's when it feels like it. It may even index both at the same time and lower the ranking of the new URL, because the page content already exists (existed, but as far as Google knows, it still exists), hence the need to 301 redirect the old URL's.

4Sprung have a pretty complex addon which Don has linked to, which is more of an 'all in one' type solution. CS-Cart Rocks also have an addon here which will allow you to set up the redirects within the Addons tab of a product/category/page.

#176779 Create Vendor Account Using A Linkedin Company Page

Posted by StellarBytes on 04 February 2014 - 05:33 PM

Yes, sorry my mistake, that is indeed how it works - for the front-end only. I had assumed as the vendor registers via the front-end, they would be given the same options as any other user does with Hybrid Auth. Seems this would require significant extending of the HybridAuth addon, or a completely separate addon. Someone else who has actually implemented this change may be able to help you, otherwise you will need to look into a 3rd party customisation service. CS-Cart's "Simtech Development" team would do it, but their prices are hugely inflated in comparison to other 3rd parties, even for the simplest of addons.

FYI, it's bad practise, never mind the SEO implications, to serve a different page for "yourdomain.com" and "yourdomain.com/index.php".

#176666 Change Appearance Of Vendor Panel?

Posted by StellarBytes on 03 February 2014 - 01:11 PM

If it's just CSS changes, therefore don't require explicit hooks to override .tpl files, then yes, you can use the my_changes method.

Create the following path and file:-
/design/backend/css/addons/my_changes/mystyles.css
Within this file, place your custom CSS code, for example, one I like to use on V4 to display the 'hidden' tools which only become visible when you hover a particular area of the admin pages:-
.hidden-tools {
visibility: visible !important;
}
You can place whatever CSS rules you wish in this file which relate only to the admin control panel.

Now, create the following path and file:-
design/backend/templates/addons/my_changes/hooks/index/styles.post.tpl
The styles.post.tpl should contain:-
{style src="addons/my_changes/mystyles.css"}

Clear your store cache, by adding ?cc&ctpl to your admin URL, ie:-
http://yourstore.com/youradminurl.php?cc&ctpl

#176414 CS-Cart And Multi-Vendor 4.1.2 Released, Brings Google Chrome Fix, Security I...

Posted by StellarBytes on 30 January 2014 - 07:48 PM

Just goes to show...if the CS-Cart docs were kept up to date, there would be no need for the users who have experienced the 'phar' issue to post here and submit support tickets. The requirements document states GD library and cURL are required....these are PHP modules, so why isn't another PHP module - Phar - included in this list?

Running 4.1.2 successfully now, time to take it for a test drive.

Have you read the developer documentation?

Ha! Ha! As if the developer docs are any better...

2) Some fixes that will make themes from 4.0.x compatible with 4.1.2 (this is a major factor for the third-party developers) Just a little bit patience and you will get your 4.1!

:grin: :grin: :grin:... :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:... 8) 8) 8)
You get the point.

#175309 CS-Cart And Multi-Vendor 4.1.1 Released, CS-Cart Facebook App Is Coming

Posted by StellarBytes on 16 January 2014 - 12:11 PM

[*] Admin panel: CSS debug mode and JavaScript debug mode options removed as non-useful.
Not useful? Did someone in the CS-Cart office have one too many sherries at Christmas?

Lots of bug fixes in the 4.1.1 release which is good to see, here's hoping it is the V4 release we have been waiting for. Time to find out...

PS. It would also be prudent for CS-Cart to confirm exactly what pages (and their displayed values respective of each admin page) can and cannot be edited between Actualizing and Finalising the store import. I have lost count how many times I have had to start a Store Import from the beginning because some pointless setting had been changed.

#173914 issue with CSS over modile network

Posted by StellarBytes on 21 December 2013 - 11:56 PM

This is caused by restrictions placed by your mobile network. When you disable 'debug' mode, one single CSS file is created which can get rather large. It's most likely your mobile network is blocking altogether or restricting an unknown amount of the CSS styles. Mobile network providers tend to use proxies for your 3G/4G connection for a variety of reasons, one or more of these proxies seems to be eating your CSS for breakfast. On Wifi, you are no longer using the mobile networks proxies, hence the 'problem' disappears.

Who is your mobile provider? Maybe you can research what their file/CSS file size limit is or find a workaround?

Here's an interesting article on the issue - mobile proxy content modification.

#173774 Changing news titlebar

Depending on your CS-Cart version, Design>Blocks or Design>Layout, create a Location for 'news'. There you can add a custom page title for news pages.

#173456 adding custom page in layout but whats the link for that page ?

Posted by StellarBytes on 13 December 2013 - 10:23 AM

What exactly are you asking for? If you created a new layout in Design>Layout, you need to apply this layout to a particular page. Creating a new tab (layout) in Design>Layout does not automatically create a new page, it just creates a framework which can be applied to a page type (custom, product, category, checkout, etc).

As for the Live Preview, it is generally found in the top-right, click the Gear icon next to 'Save' to produce a drop-down menu which displays 'Preview' link.

#173402 How do you edit the "payment systems icons" on bottom of page

Posted by StellarBytes on 12 December 2013 - 03:08 PM

Enable 'My Changes' addon.

Create:-
design/themes/yourtheme/templates/addons/my_changes/hooks/index/styles.post.tpl
styles.post.tpl contents:-
{style src="addons/my_changes/mystyles.css"}

Create:-
/design/themes/yourtheme/css/addons/my_changes/mystyles.css
Code for mystyles.css:-
.payment-icon.american-express, .cc-icon .american-express {
background-position: -100px -200px;
}
.payment-icon.discover, .cc-icon .discover {
background-position: -200px -200px;
}

Open:-
/design/themes/yourtheme/templates/blocks/static_templates/payment_icons.tpl
Replace all contents with:-
{** block-description:tmpl_payment_icons **}
<div class="payment-icons">
	<span class="payment-icon american-express">&nbsp;</span>
	<span class="payment-icon visa">&nbsp;</span>
	<span class="payment-icon mastercard">&nbsp;</span>
	<span class="payment-icon discover">&nbsp;</span>
	<span class="payment-icon paypal">&nbsp;</span>
</div>
Save files to your server and clear the cache in admin using &cc&ctpl

The desired result is as attached.

You should also be able to override the payment_icons.tpl for foolproof upgrades in future:-
/design/themes/yourtheme/templates/addons/my_changes/blocks/static_templates/payment_icons.tpl

#173394 Need to upgrade from v2.0.6 to the latest version of cs cart

Posted by StellarBytes on 12 December 2013 - 12:24 PM

You can use the 'Store Import' addon in the latest version - currently 4.0.3 - to upgrade your store. You will have to create a separate installation of 4.0.3 because the software is radically different, therefore you install the latest version in a subdomain/subfolder of your current V2.0.6 store and then use the Store Import to import all your V2 data into V4, then move the V4 store to the root to go live.
