I would use SFTP and set the server to only allow this type of login. You could also change the default port number from 22 to some other random number like 2416 (make a note of it), when you connect in future via SFTP you would use this port number.

This will just make it a little more difficult and time consuming as the port number would have to be found by scanning.

Just noticed this topic, if interested try this website, it is the demo store cs-cart version 3.xx

www.ecopolar.net

Running on NGinx webserver, PHP-FPM + XCache 3.0.0, MySQL
VPS server optimized for running CS-Cart. Specification XEN virtualization (overselling of system resources not possible with XEN) 768M memory + guaranteed slice of 3.4GHz 4 cores.

No optimizations done to cs-cart store, test with 48 products on category pages.

Note www.ecopolar.com is running CS-Cart version 2.xx - This website is currently for sale.

In Topic: Speed Up and Optimise CS-Cart Version 3

Hi StellarBytes,

What is your page load time for CS-Cart Version 3, 21 seconds seems very high?

SmartOptimizer is almost redundant with CS-Cart version 3 as it already combines css and js files. Though CS-cart should add minify (the code for which is probably quite easy to integrate) to the combined files which would improve things. Using SmartOptimizer is just another layer of unnecessary software (especially with CS-Cart version 3) using vital server resource.

It is possible to use NGinx + FPM-PHP + XCache + MySQL which will improve performance and reduce server load, but it is not a simple task to setup.

Visited Forum today from google search, URL looks all ok but this lightbox popup below appeared (screenshot):-

Unfortunately I did capture the code, will do next time. It only seems to appear after not visiting the forum after a period of time, so may be browser cached file reloading (could be infected JavaScript file).

Just happened today, had a pop-up appear on the forum with a choice of six colored pictures of various animals. I clicked one of these creatures and was then warned of being taken to an infectious website. I did not screen capture the pop-up on the forum. I reached the forum from a google search for cs-cart and the website address looked all ok. Though only thing which occurred when entering the forum was I left it idle for a period of time, on return I was faced with the pop-up. I have tried to reproduce, but unable. So can only think that it is triggered by some random event.

The report from the protection software (for the redirected site), do not follow this it is dangerous:-
