Hello,

What version are you using?

#268764 Update: Critical Vulnerability In Phpmailer Library. Should Be Fixed Asap

Posted by kellenw on 18 January 2017 - 06:01 PM

For those suffering a similar problem as I did, the culprit was escapeshellcmd(). The update requires this to be enabled. This is disabled by default for many servers using Suhosin for security purposes. You can either disable Suhosin on the domains running CS-Cart, or you can enable the specific function manually.  Both methods should fix this particular white screen of death issue.

#249108 Fedex And Ups Shipping Modules And Orders Over 150 Pounds

Posted by kellenw on 27 April 2016 - 03:12 AM

i shipped orders over 200lb, we use UPS, it calculated it fine.

I use "Items in a box" set to 1-1 - for heavy products for example for item that is 55lb, and it works just fine.

Unfortunately, that won't work for us.  We need to be able to ship lots of small items...  For instance, 200 one pound widgets.  However, cs-cart won't break that out into multiple boxes for a ground shipping quote.

#246544 Fedex And Ups Shipping Modules And Orders Over 150 Pounds

Posted by kellenw on 28 March 2016 - 03:18 AM

Hello,

The built-in FedEx and UPS shipping modules are still not capable of splitting orders into multiple boxes when requesting real-time shipping rates as of version 4.3.x.  My primary concern is with Fedex since that is what our company uses, but it's a problem with UPS too.  I am aware we could ship orders over 150 pounds via Fedex Freight (LTL), but this is not cost effective until the order is about 300 pounds or more.  Shipping the orders in multiple boxes via ground is almost always significantly cheaper in the 150-300 pound range. This has been a problem since version 1 of CS-Cart, and I'm curious why it has not been addressed.

Fedex home delivery max weight is 70 PER PACKAGE.  Fedex ground max weight is 150 pounds, but packages over 70 pounds incur an extra "overweight" charge.  You can, however, ship as many packages to the same recipient as you want using home delivery or ground, as long as each package is below these max weights.  So why can't CS-Cart quote rates that way?

We use Magento currently, and it is capable of splitting orders out into multiple boxes based on the "max package weight" you assign to the shipping method in its configuration.  If I put 150 pounds in the "max package weight" and someone orders numerous products that add up to 200 pounds, it simply splits the order into two packages... One 150 pound package and one 50 pound package, and requests a combined quote for the entire order from Fedex as two separate packages.  This allows my current cart to technically quote shipping on any total order weight for these shipping services.

I see that CS-Cart has a "Weight Limit" field under the general tab within the shipping method and a "Max box weight" under the configuration tab within the shipping method.  However, the "Max box weight" doesn't appear to actually do anything, regardless of what you put in the field.  If CS-Cart behaved like Magento, I would expect that whatever weight I put in the "Max box weight" would determine when CS-Cart should split the order into an additional box or boxes... but it doesn't do that.

I know this has been an ongoing complaint since CS-Cart started, and even the way Magento handles it isn't perfect, but it's pretty close, and in 5 years of using Magento, it has never been more than a dollar or two off from our actual cost on very large/heavy orders.  It has been a good compromise for a complex shipping situation, and has meant that we weren't turning away customers because our cart was unable to quote ground shipping rates, or push them to expensive freight rates on orders over 150 pounds but under 300 pounds.

I understand there were a couple of custom third party shipping modules that addressed this problem at one time, but it appears the developers have both closed down their businesses, so there is no solution presently for this issue.

Does CS-Cart intend to address this problem in the near future?  It's holding me back from a 1 base and 2 additional storefront licence purchase at this time.

Thanks for any input.
:)

#223133 Considering Moving A 3 Store Multi-Store On Magento Over To Cs-Cart... Have S...

Posted by kellenw on 16 July 2015 - 04:44 AM

kellenw...
if I may ask, why are you considering moving from Magento and which version are you using ?
Were you using Magento Go ?

I am currently using Magento CE 1.9 (self-hosted). Magento is a great system, if you have the resources to manage it, maintain it and run it. It is incredibly powerful, and can be expanded in just about any way you wish. However, it is extremely slow, unless tweaked extensively. It is also quite difficult for the average person to use. I am the in-house dev and admin, but I have to do almost every task in the system (inventory management, new product entry, etc.), because other employees tend to get confused and make entry/edit mistakes or are simply afraid to use it at all. We have been using it for 3 or 4 years, and it is getting slower and slower, even on a dedicated server with plentiful resources. We've spent thousands of dollars on extensions and customization, but it just seems like it's time for us to move to a faster and more user friendly system, even at the expense of some robustness. I also have some concerns regarding eBay's commitment to Magento long-term. I was not a fan of the buyout by eBay.

#140231 Version 3 has no more free templates?

Posted by kellenw on 09 July 2012 - 09:58 PM

You can do a lot of things with the block manager when it comes to changing information to be presented, but templates go a long way in really changing a site's look.

Personally, I would like to see themes with the ability to change colors, background images, etc. right from the admin. A lot of Joomla and drupal themes have this functionality built into them now, and it's fantastic.

#140227 CS-Cart 3 Final Released

Suppliers functionality put back in Ultimate Edition?

#133851 CS-Cart 3 RC Released

Posted by kellenw on 26 March 2012 - 09:08 PM

Not having suppliers in Ultimate Edition is a major problem for us, and will be a major problem for a very large percentage of people considering UE. Without suppliers functionality, the shipping system is extremely limited. In fact, it is unusable for a large number of people, particularly the type of people who run multiple stores, because they tend to have more complex shipping requirements than single store owners.

Without suppliers functionality, you are not able to assign specific real-time shipping methods to a single product. Examples:
- If you have an item that is Hazmat and must ship ONLY a certain way, this can no longer be accomplished.
- If you have a perishable item that must ONLY ship via overnight service, this can no longer be accomplished.
- If you use a drop shipper for some products (most of us do), and need to use their shipping rate tables (because they are in a different rate zone than you) while applying your rates to your own products, this is no longer possible.
- If you have heavy weight, oversize or freight items that must ship via a different method than the other products being ordered, this can't be accomplished.
- If you have multiple warehouses or distribution centers in different areas, you can not quote real time rates for each of them.
- If you use a fullfilment company to ship some of your items while shipping others from your own location, you can no longer quote real time rates for both.

You can do ALL of this with Pro, a less expensive product. The result is that Ultimate Edition is crippled compared to Pro, unless suppliers functionality is put back in.

I paid for a UE license already, under the assumption this functionality would not be removed. I'm struggling to understand why in the world it would be removed in the first place. Without it, the shipping system has virtually zero flexibility and literally will NOT work for us, or a vast number of other people out there. Put simply, you're going to lose sales, because other competing products have this.

I started a UserVoice for this issue here: http://cscart.uservo...to-ultimate-edi

It is already the leading feature by votes in the Ultimate Edition category. Please vote if this matters to you!

#133397 CS-Cart 3 RC Released

Posted by kellenw on 19 March 2012 - 04:59 AM

Are suppliers completely removed from the Ultimate Edition? I rely on using suppliers (as a work around) to assign specific shipping methods to specific products (even though we ship them ourselves), since there is no other functionality for this in CS-Cart. Pro had this capability, so I'm confused why UE doesn't. Maybe I am just missing it, but I can't seem to find any way to enable suppliers in UE RC4. Hopefully this just isn't integrated yet because it is an absolute "must have" for me.

#132222 CS-Cart 3 RC Released

Posted by kellenw on 27 February 2012 - 07:28 PM

We will release a special database import tool. It will allow you to transfer database from RC to CS-Cart 3 final.

So you can start filling up the store now, it will be possible to move all the products to the final version.

Hi kmolchanov,

Awesome news! I was hoping you guys would do this. It will really help all the people who have pre-purchased Ultimate Edition. Now we can proceed to populate our stores ahead of the final release without worry. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! :)

#131454 CS-Cart 3 RC Released

I just purchased Ultimate Edition today. I would like to populate the store with products, set up shipping parameters and do some basic appearance customization ahead of the final release, but I really need to know that ther will be some sort of logical upgrade path from RC to final, so that I don't have to take the time to re-enter all the product data and image files.

I know you stated there was no upgrade function planned, but it would sure be helpful for those of us that want to get a head start on our stores before the final actually comes out.

#130067 Has anyone setup a second domain on Ultimate Edition yet?

Posted by kellenw on 27 January 2012 - 10:02 AM

If so, is it just a matter of putting the .htaccess file in the root directory of the second domain? Can the sites be hosted on different servers? What do I need to edit in .htaccess to make this work? I've been playing around a lot with the beta, but I'm still a bit stumped on how to go about doing this part.

I'm planning to buy Ultimate Edition, but I just need to make sure it's going to do what I need. Three stores, all 3 are unique domains.
