How Does Everyone Calculate Shipping

04 June 2014 - 02:50 AM

I'm just wondering how everyone who uses cs-cart, or any online website, calculates shippings cost for multiple product orders?

I understand that you can enter a dimension and weight to a product so cs-cart automatically calculate it, but this will not give you the real end-result shipping dimensions because we'll usually pack all the products the customer ordered in one big box instead, and this affects the price of shipping.

Do all the giant online stores online just "estimate" shipping and lose or gain money on each order?

Usergroups Status Unchecked By Default

22 April 2014 - 11:25 PM

Under the Admin section - Customers - Usergroups - status... I don't understand why CS-Cart doesn't make these unchecked by default.

In version 4.1.2 I had these checkboxes (among others) disabled by default by editing the code in:
- Design/backend/templates/views/usergroups/update.tpl
- Design/backend/templates/views/profiles/update.tpl

I just removed 'checked="checked"'.

But now the code seems to have changed and I can no longer find the code that makes these checkboxes unchecked by default.

Can anyone help me find a solution?

Thanks.

Anybody Used Crazyegg.com?

26 February 2014 - 12:47 AM

CrazyEgg.com is a really cool "sorta" analytics tool. Instead of grabbing customer info that visit your website, it tells you literally where your customers click on your webpages with "heatmaps" and also where they tend to scroll to. (Demo: www.crazyegg.com/demo)

Anyway, they use javascript code like all the other analytics services, but when I insert the code, I get an error on my website:

Fatal error: Uncaught --> Smarty Compiler: Syntax error in template "/home/*******/public_html/design/themes/basic/templates/addons/my_changes/hooks/index/footer.override.tpl" on line 29 "setTimeout(function(){var a=document.createElement("script");" unknown tag "var" <-- thrown in /home/*******/public_html/app/lib/other/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatecompilerbase.php on line 29

Where the ****** is just my blanked out server name.

I used the my changes add-on and put the code in "footer.override.tpl", from what you can probably see above.

Here's the javascript code used:

<script type="text/javascript">
setTimeout(function(){var a=document.createElement("script");
var b=document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0];
a.src=document.location.protocol+"//dnn506yrbagrg.cloudfront.net/pages/scripts/2121/5555.js?"+Math.floor(new Date().getTime()/3600000);
a.async=true;a.type="text/javascript";b.parentNode.insertBefore(a,<img src='http://forum.cs-cart.com/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />}, 1);
</script>

I know nothing about javascript, so I have no idea if the script is wrong.

Unfortunately, as you already know, not many developers know about CS-Cart, so they can't or don't want to help. When contacting CrazyEgg, they just said to contact my developer. And I'm not going to pay an arm and a leg to get CS-Cart to look at this. It's not worth it.

Adding Product Code In Category View

09 February 2014 - 12:59 AM

Anybody know how I can display the Product Code (Language="sku") in the categories view? I seem to recall it used to be visible in older versions of cs-cart. I have v 4.1.2.

Thanks.

Need To "disable" Input Fields

23 January 2014 - 03:31 AM

Hi. Been getting a lot of good help lately on the forums, hopefully someone could help on this one too.

I'm running 4.0.3, and I'd like to "disable" all the input fields (except Password and Shipping address fields) under "Profile details" and in the Checkout, so customers can't edit them but still see them.

I've only been able to find the Email field and disable it in "templates / views / profiles / components / profiles_account.tpl" by adding disabled="disabled". I've looked everywhere and there's no such input field for Billing info. They must be added using a loop I can't find.

Thanks.
