Looking For An Independent Support Provider ....

10 May 2014 - 07:06 PM

Things have been getting busy and we don't have the bandwidth to fuss with the store backend. We are considering using an independent support contractor to do our upgrade from 3.06 to 4x and we may have some SEO and design work as well.

Anyone care to offer a recommendation or testimonial?

PHP 5.4.x and later are not supported.

12 December 2013 - 05:27 PM

We are on version 3.06 and recently started getting the message ...

PHP 5.4.x and later are not supported.

We are on a shared Hostmonster plan and have been for 4+ years. Both the CS-CART software and Hosting plan have been working great for us!

I ran this down and yes, Hostmonster is going through a mandatory upgrade to version 5.4. For the time being we were able to revert back to PHP 5.2x and that did solve our immediate problem.

However, running PHP version 5.2 or 5.3 is not going to be an option for shared hosting plans very soon ... we are talking weeks. At that time 5.4 will be our only option.

So the questions ...

- How can we make CS-CART 3.06 run with PHP 5.4x??

- Does the latest version of CS-CART support 5.4, or if not, when will it?

Thanks for your help guy and gals!

DB Type mysql or mysqli? SQL errors 1030 and 1064

26 August 2013 - 04:36 PM

I have been trying to resolve SQL error I am getting on my site intermittently. Doing research here and elsewhere, both errors seem to be related to inadequate storage or accessing temp files. Space is not a problem and my ISP has confirmed there are no restrictions here.

Here is the last memo I got from my ISP ....

it looks like your store is set to use a mysqli connection instead of a mysql connection.
on line 47
$config['db_type'] = 'mysqli';

I have set the mysqli connections to be non persistent this may help- if it does not try setting that line to mysql instead of mysqli

Thank you,
Level II Site/Script Compatibility

Please verify what db_type I should be using. Also, any information or links you could provide that may help me solve this problem would be helpful.

The changing changing of the sql connection persistence DOES seem to have helped. I used to be able to generate an error with <5 clicks on site links .... I have not gotten the error today after many clicks.

MYSQL Errors 1030 amd 1064

19 August 2013 - 09:58 PM

Ever since we upgraded to version 3.2 we have been getting the following two errors on the site ..

Database error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '/ramdisk/mysql/tmp/#sql_746e_0' at line 1 (1064)

Database error: Got error 28 from storage engine (1030)

The errors occur intermittently and randomly simply by clicking around on the site. You could click on a link to a product category, get on of the errors, and then just refresh the page and it works.

I have reviewed the posts here on these errors and also checked around on the web, but cannot put my finger on what the fix might be.

Some posts on the subject indicate that there is not space in the temp folder. However, there is no limitation on folder size in my shared ISP hosting plan with hostmonster and have verified this is not the issue.

I really don't know where to go with this at this point. Is there some MySQL setting that needs to be changed? Terrible problem in that it is intermittent .... but it can be recreated with about 10 clicks on links or less?

We need to get this fixed and are willing to pay ...

Sitemap Use and Placement?

20 July 2013 - 03:40 PM

My store resides a level down from the root of my website ...

http://www.qualitypromosplus.com is the website ...

http://www.qualitypromosplus.com/store is the store ....

Recently, I deleted my sitemap.xml in the root of the site and started using the CSCart Google Site Map Addon.

The addon appears to be working and if I go to http://www.qualitypr...ore/sitemap.xml I see it and it is current.

I am currently pointing to that sitemap in my robots.txt

Here are my questions ....

1. Does having pages at root of the site above /store/ negatively impact SEO on my store pages
2. My top level site pages are no longer part of my sitemap because Google Site Map only works from /store/ as the root. Can you have multiple sitemaps ... like a sitemap at the root that includes a link to the sitemap at the /store/ level. Or, can you have multiple sitemaps listed in robots.txt?

I guess at the end of the day it get down to the question ... does the store need to be at the website root to achieve optimal SEO?
