#299660 Why Cs Cart Lacks Of Good Looking (Modern) Themes

Posted by dvsgr on 03 April 2018 - 08:37 PM

Well as I am a financial advisor and not a developer, you need to consider that in order to develope a product you need to have a kind of Market research. The results should help you in the decision of making this product or not.

At the moment a realy nice theme will cost a lot of money to develope, support and upgrade.

So price wont be in the area of 60 USD. It can easily get up to 200 USD if not more.

And looking at the Market with around 35.000 licenses, with an average cost of 300 USD per license, you can very easy understand that people looking for a cheap solution wont pay that money. They have already invested into the license and hosting, so spending a similar amount for a theme that needs also a kind of customization- like menu, blocks, banners maybe color- is not an option.

So you end up selling maybe 10 or 20 themes and getting yourself supporting and updaring those installations for penauts as you initial cost can not be covered or even make some money.

Its not so simple as you present it. You only think of your side not the big picture.

You need a big Market in order to make money out of Themes.

If your clients are willing to pay around 400 for a theme you can always let a Dev transfer a design from another platform. We do it as also many others in here.

Works fine for our clients and they are willing to pay for it as they get exactly what they want.

So there are solutions to you problem. Just need to sell them.

And dont take my word for it.

just read this quora article on selling Wordpress themes (the most popular platfrom in the world and easy to code for) as they are asking themselves "Is it still possible to make a living selling WordPress themes and/or plugins?":

#299657 Why Cs Cart Lacks Of Good Looking (Modern) Themes

Posted by dvsgr on 03 April 2018 - 06:53 PM

CS-Cart is realy one of the easiest platfroms out there to customize the look

You only need to work on the hooks system and css. you can literaly do what ever you want with it.

- Change buttons with icons

- change grid look with more data like descriptions, availabitliy, hover effects on butons and images

- multi size blocks for the first page with banners

- footer look with many rows and columns

- fullwidth blocks

you have so many differnt menus at the moment so this is also not a problem anymore.

Banner sliders awith fullwudth is also no problem any more with so many third party addons

And after all with layout manager you are abel to cutomize the look of any page, even for a specific one.

I think if you just invest a bit more time on default theme and work only with css you can realy have a very different result

Thats not an option for a novice user, but then again CS-Cart is not for novice eshopers. They go woocommerce or anyother free platfrom.

CS-Cart is a complete solution and you need to know your staff before you use it. If you are new in e-commerce you will not use more than 10% of its capabilities ending up complaining about the themes, when this is not a major factor.

Most of the major shop out there (see amazon for example) have a very simple almost plain design.

Its the ease of use and navigation, that makes the difference. There is also another 25%  from banners and overall graphics. The rest is the theme,

I beleive CS-Cart can continue with the advanced theme and layout manager, but give more tips on how to achieve niceandclean results.

#282994 New Emails Andpayment Surcharge Issue In Order With Payment Surcharge

Posted by dvsgr on 20 August 2017 - 05:04 PM

Hi guys
we were facing a serious issue with the new order template.
The problem was that a payment surcharge is not showing in the order (invoice) print, even if it's charged.
Attached File  order-new.png   316.25KB   17 downloads
You can see the payment surcharge in order screen in admin, in customer screen in old print, but not in new print.
Attached File  order-old.png   481.76KB   15 downloads

We have contacted support and got a temporary solution, as this bug relates to a Minor severity so the maximum waiting time is 45 days.
You only need to go to Design > Documents > Invoice page of the admin panel and
Add this code
<tr style=" vertical-align: top; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">
<td align="left" style="padding-bottom: 20px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">{% if o.payment_surcharge %} {{__("payment_surcharge")}} {% endif %}
<td align="right" style="font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">{% if o.payment_surcharge %} {{o.payment_surcharge}} {% endif %}
Under this
<tr style=" vertical-align: top; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">
<td align="left" style="padding-bottom: 20px; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">{{ __("shipping") }}
<td align="right" style="font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">{{ o.display_shipping_cost }}

It will be then shown almost as it should, as the surcharge title is from translation and not from the field with the alternative Surcharge title in the payment settings pop-up.

#268938 Aligning Sub-Category Names In A Six Column Layout

Posted by dvsgr on 20 January 2017 - 09:27 AM

Glad to have found this Thread, so didn't need to start a new one. Am trying to do the exact same thing on my site.

I was unable to find the following section though. In which template file is this located?

Hi Daimion,

if you go to design THemes, and open the vidual editor, you can select the custom css from the dropdown on the top and the code there and save.

Thats it

#268131 Pinterest Problem

Posted by dvsgr on 11 January 2017 - 11:26 AM

Hi Silverbestbuy , I have the same problem with 4.3.10 do you solve the problem?

Hi Guys , this is a bug in 43x latest versions, which is fixed in 44x

You can manually fix it by changing in the  app/addons/social_buttons/func.php

line 60 from this
'description' => urlencode(fn_truncate_chars(fn_get_sb_description($params), 200)),
to this
'description' => rawurlencode(fn_truncate_chars(htmlspecialchars(fn_get_sb_description($params)), 200)),

Don't forget to clean your cache it will work fine.

#265143 Main Menu Modification ?

Posted by dvsgr on 28 November 2016 - 03:19 PM

Default main menu in mobile view takes 100% screen width, how can I change so the button would be just enough needed for icond and MENU word, but when menu opens it will be 100% width. Just I would like to fit for example search field next to menu, how can I do that?

Hi Darius

try to create a diferrent grid for Mobile view only (use visible-phone class for the grid) and add there search and menu blocks.. You can then hide the desktop ones via the class hidden-phone.

Start from there to see how it works first.

Correction best method is to add a new grid with 2 more grids inside (all ful width) like this, with those grid classes

also add this css in you visual editor

.phone-menu-grid .span8 {
    float: left;
    width: 50% !important;

.phone-menu-grid .phone-search {
    background: #34495e none repeat scroll 0 0;
    height: 46px;
    padding: 5px;

.phone-menu-grid .ty-float-left {
    float: unset;

You will get this result

#263794 Cscart.biz

Posted by dvsgr on 14 November 2016 - 08:42 AM

Let me put in few kind words also.
I dabbled with css in order to have three banners perfectly aligned underneath a slider carroussel and have them also respond to smaller screens as on tablets or larger smartphones.

It took to much time for me and Fotis just responded on my call for help on this forum and handed me a smart solution.

Three Banner is what it is called and available for not much actually on his website where he as many more very useful and customizable addons.

Fotis is a guy  is really fast in offering a helping hand so I give Cartbiz my thumbs up.

Many many thanks Anthony,

glad that this addon could simplify your digital workflow

#263050 Sticky Main Menu

Posted by dvsgr on 02 November 2016 - 10:10 PM

as per title, how can this be achieved?

If you are up to you can do this for free

Folow the guide (besure to have my Changes addon installed and active)

Create a new folder in js/addons called /my_changes.

Add a new file named sticky.js and add the following content

    $(window).scroll(function() {
        if ($(this).scrollTop() >= 104) {
        else {

After that head into your theme for example if you use responsive theme go to

design/themes/responsive and in the css/addons open a new folder named /my_changes.

Add the file named sticky.ccs and add following content

.stickytop {
    position: fixed !important;
    top: 0;
    z-index: 1000;
.top-menu-grid {
    overflow: visible !important;
    padding-top: 0;
.fullwidth {
    display: block !important;
    left: 50% !important;
    position: relative !important;
    width: calc(100vw) !important;
.stickytop .ty-menu__items {
    margin: 0 auto!important;
    max-width: 1200px!important;
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.stickytop {
    position: relative !important;

Add another file here named sticky.less and add the following content

.stickytop {

After that again in the theme folder go to folder templates/addons this time, and create the my_changes folder if its not already there.

in there open the folder /hooks and in that the folder /index

you need now to create 2 files

a. the scripts.post.tpl and add the follwoing content

{script src="js/addons/my_changes/sticky.js"}

 and the file styles.post.tpl with the following content

{style src="addons/my_changes/sticky.css"}
{style src="addons/my_changes/sticky.less"}

You only need to retain the class name of the Grid that houses your main menu block,  to "top-menu-grid" in order for this to work.

Clean your CS-Cart Cache (admin.php?cc&ctpl) and the menu bar will stick to top each time you roll more than a page content.

Hope you find this usefull

If you are not up to creating this you can download it for free from our store.

I just had a hard time figuring out why Gzip was not enabled on our server. We ran / run Nginx etc. but it works now. We are not quite there yet in terms of server response / page loading and any addon that might affect page loading we are very reluctant to purchase.

Yes its a good tactic.

Let me have a look on that quote for you, I pm you
