Live Help Excessive Increase of Server CPU Load

18 February 2010 - 11:23 PM

We've got a beefy 8 core server that is getting many of it's CPU's pegged by what appears to be something related to Live Help. The server only houses 2 CS-Cart and 1 Drupal installation. We only have a handful of Live Help operators at any one time. Any suggestions?

On 5 of 8 cores in today's Daily Process Log we see:

%CPU 53.7 httpd [csirentals.com] [/index.php?targetlh_visitor&actions[check_invitation]Y&mo]

I've gone through the past month's logs and found these processes usually stay between 0.1% and 2.6% although on Feb 10th five cores showed between 94% and 96% utilization.

Can't think of anything that would cause the spikes so just asking out loud if anyone has seen this before or could shed light on it.

Thanks

High Profile Professional Reference Sites for CS-Cart

24 November 2009 - 07:21 AM

Hi,

We were pitching a potential new client on the benefits of using CS-Cart for their new e-Commerce site when they asked us a simple question...

Can you provide a list of websites that use CS-Cart?

...and we were stumped. We all know CS-Cart is great, but the CS-Cart developers don't exactly have the best marketing. There are no case studies or real stores trumpeted on the homepage.

I'm sure many prospective CS-Cart users, like our potential clients, are looking for re-assurances they are not the only people to use this engine. So, does anyone have a list of big name or popular or "premier" websites that use CS-Cart? What about a list of sites that have heavily modified CS-Cart that could show the engine's extensibility?

If there isn't such a list, please provide links to impressive CS-Cart installations you built or know about (either 1.x or 2.x).

Thanks

How to automatically break up shipping?

29 June 2009 - 05:40 PM

Our client ships cases of paper. Each case weighs 34 pounds. When a customer selects more than 2 cases we go over the weight limit for real time shipping calculations.

How have others worked around this limitation?

Other carts we have used had the option to mark a product as shipping in its own box (and then the selected shipping method at checkout will calculate that item separately) or to break up heavy orders into multiple smaller shipments. We prefer the first solution as it makes the backend administration simpler.

I saw a Top-Coder mod mentioned in the forums but they are gone.

I haven't used ShippingKit, but it seems to focus on automating invoicing - would it solve this problem? If so, how?

Looking through Rob’s CS-Cart Shipping & Tax Guide PDF seemed to point to a combination of freight/realtime settings, but that looks like it would be real ugly for customers to view and require them to manually make an extra decisions at checkout.

Ideally we want someone that buys either 500 sheets of paper or 10 cases of paper to just pick from a simple list of UPS Ground, Overnight, 2nd Day etc...

Any suggestions?

Admin Shipping Settings is completely Blank

24 April 2009 - 06:14 PM

When I go to Administration->Shipping Settings I get a completely blank page (no error, no html source, no nothing). Things I've tried:

- Cleared cache
- Checked permissions on var and a few other places: everything looks good
- Compared the shipping settings in the database to the development server: all the same
- Turned on full logging: no php errors (or anything else) gets recorded (my guess is that the admin area does not make use of the normal error logging functions)
- Diff file comparisons between the working local dev server and the blank page production server: things seem good

Everything else is working fine and I could swear this was working fine a month ago so perhaps the hosting company changed something? I'm leaning towards a server/environmental issue. Any suggestions on how to fix or even track down this bug? Thanks.

I'm on v.1.3.5 SP4

How To: Add Icons to Product Tabs

24 March 2009 - 04:34 PM

This modification will allow you to add icons to both the built-in tabs such as "Description" and those generated by Listmania as well as tabs from the Product Tabs mod.

Sample:
Posted Image

Open the skins/<YOUR_SKIN>/customer/buttons/tab.tpl file

Immediately before:

{$tab_text}</div>

Insert the following code:

<div class="tab_icon" id="{assign var=icon_name value=$tab_text}{php}echo 'tab_icon_' . strtolower(preg_replace('/[^a-zA-Z0-9]+/', '_', $this->get_template_vars('icon_name')));{/php}"></div>

This will allow you to address a new placeholder DIV in each tab via Cascading Style Sheets based on the name of the tab. The CSS addressable ID is created by prepending "tab_icon_", replacing all non-alpha numeric characters with the underscore, and converting all alphabetic characters to lowercase. For example, a tab called "Colors & Designs" will be given the id of "tab_icon_colors_designs".

You can specify an icon for this tab by adding the following at the bottom of skins/<YOUR_SKIN>/customer/styles.css (assuming you have a 18 pixel wide by 16 pixel tall icon called tab_Colors_and_Designs.gif in your skins/<YOUR_SKIN>/customer/images folder)

.tab_icon {
	background: transparent no-repeat;
	border:  none;
	float:   left;
	height:  16px;
	width:   0;
	padding: 0;
	margin:  0;
}

#tab_icon_colors_designs {
	margin-right: 7px;
	width:  18px;
	background-image: url(images/tab_Colors_and_Designs.gif);
}

If you want the icon to look different if the tab is selected, then you need two different icons - one for the active state and one for the inactive state. Then, instead of the above modifications, you would add the following to skins/<YOUR_SKIN>/customer/styles.css:

.tab_icon {
	background: transparent no-repeat;
	border:  none;
	float:   left;
	height:  16px;
	width:   0;
	padding: 0;
	margin:  0;
}

.section-inactive-tab-bg #tab_icon_colors_designs {
	margin-right: 7px;
	width:  18px;
	background-image: url(images/tab_Colors_and_Designs_inactive.gif);
}

.section-active-tab-bg   #tab_icon_colors_designs {
	margin-right: 7px;
	width:  18px;
	background-image: url(images/tab_Colors_and_Designs_active.gif);
}

This modification should work on most versions and installations but was developed and tested specifically on:
* CS-Cart v1.3.5 SP4
* Product Tabs 1.0 SP4
* New Vision Blue theme
* Firefox 3.0.7 and Internet Explorer 7.0.6001 on Windows Vista
