What do you mean by that? Good or not?

Jesse was making that as a joke. Snorocket has probably been the biggest contributor to this community and has had a lot of direct input with the CS-Cart developers for the creation of 2.0.

Brandon

But lets not give him too much of an ego boost

Sno might not be back, because his head is now too big to fit on these forums! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, Sno is one of the most helpful and active members of this whole operation and deserves credit for helping many, many CS-Carters!

if I could only make a mod to change diapers I would be doing good…

NAnny Mod v1.0! coming soon.:stuck_out_tongue:

Why your forum is viewable only to registered members? Cant screenshots be seen without registration?

Hi Darius, because members willing to donate towards the development of the addons will also generally be willing to sign up on the forums and make a donation, the forums were created to have more control over the development of the addons. It takes alot of money to develop the proposed addons and if we don’t get sufficient donations we will not be able to develop the addons for the community. Members who donate will have continued access to the forums and addons and those who are just browsing will not be able to download the addons untill they make a donation towards the continued development of the addons. Members also have a voice in the development of the addons and what features they would like included, hope that makes sense, Thanks - Sno

Well I hope this is not going to be a re run of 1.3 bla bla, were every time a new click of the cart required a donation, like the tabs for one.

I personally have payed hundreds of dollars to mod’s and don’t take kindly to have to keep paying out more money each time a new version comes out.

Hey Zardos, I know, we’re not very happy about it ourselves, we’ve payed out $1000’s in custom addons that we have, and it looks like we’ll be doing it all over again for CS2. What I’ve been told is that with the complete re-write of the architecture of the cart, it will enable addons not to be upgraded, and will in fact upgrade the addons automatically, or inherit functionality features as they are upgraded, I hope this is the truth because if we do have to pay again and again for addon upgrades I can assure you we’re pretty much going to throw the towel in and walk away from the cart. CS2 is based on MVC (model-view-controller) architecture, basically meaning that Club Addon will be developing addons that will be using core pieces of the CS2 architecture through hooks in the addons, when CS updates the core, because the addons are hooked through to the core code, the addons will essentially inherit the update, hope that makes sense…not having this capability is what caused problems with previous addons and why we had to continually upgrade every time a new release came out because the updates broke the addons functionality…

Hey sno

Thanks for being up front with me, and all that read this article, because it needed to be said.

From what I’ve been told, there is an API and that we will be able to write mods that interface the API without affecting the core cart and in theory not cause the mods to be rewritten every time a new version comes out.

They are also working on the documentation for the API for developers.

Hi ET. You know, this might be the best news that I’ve heared until now!!! Even Magento can not achieve this purely!!! For current version of Magento, I can tell everyone that it is a bloatware and it is good at boasting themself. No hostility, just speak out what is true now.

If Cs-cart 2.0 can achieve that, 3rd party mods will grow very fast and all of them will be a huge fortune for cs-cart!!!

This sounds excellent. Will this mean that upgrading will be any easier?

Thanks for this info Sno and ETI … this has been a major concern, and if they actually do pull this off as apparently planned, it will be a huge boon to the software and users. I do hope it helps w/ upgrading, however suspect those of us who have made significant changes will still have to do a lot of manual work.

With all of the work invested to date, I suspect i’ll hang w/ 135 SP4 for some time to come, but am glad to see this is the approach moving forward.

I’ve already coded a few of the addons for my Admin Tools Addon, admin tools is actually a collection of about 5+ addons bundled together, anyways from what I can tell upgrading will not effect addons, it’s as if they operate completely separated, and as discussed already, when the cart is upgraded, certain functionality of the addons will be upgraded, pretty sweet…

Once you mention mr SNO…

snorocket.com is down for the last 10 hours ?

I wish you the best sno!
