Any estimates as to when a stable/production v2.0 will be realeased? Looks like a lot will change and since I’m just about to start with CS-Cart would it make more sense to just start site development with 2.0 beta since I don’t plan to take it live until Febuary '09?

And then you will need additional development time from that point…?
This is an indefinite. It can be expected but if there are delays then what ? did you want to be in business by feb or start to develop then or possibly start in march>??? or even april…
There may be enough significant changes that some bugs need to be addressed. Is your store critical currently or does it need to be before march…?? do you have a developer that has schedule or are you doing it?/ i think if you asked your self these questions - you should better know if you are wanting something that works now - and can be in business when u want… or are waiting for somethng that will be better.
if me - i would get up and running - asap … i have a philosophy - if, waste too much time getting going it will never happen… in fact this year i tell my clients if i cant put together a website in 3 days… i dont want to do it… so much stuff is good out of the box now… that needs some light css changes… a logo or graphic here or there…
- perfect is the enemy of good… - i know what i would do … buy now - develop and be in business fast as possible… 3 days preferably – and devel again once 2.0 comes - if there is a real need too… or benefit…
of course that is just me…

yea Randy buy CS now and put your store up with 1.3.5 sp4, upgrade over when CS 2.0 becomes stable enough, in addition to what others mentioned above you’ll get a head start on your business…
