Joomla & Virtuemart VS CS Cart

I have to admit my patients with v-mart is running very low which is how I stumbled across CS-Cart. I’ve always had problems with V-mart or joomla during updates or installing special extensions that are suppose to work right out of the box. I’ve became more dependent on friends to bail me out who knew more about php then I did.

V-Mart and Joomla have a few things pre-installed in the bundle package that do not work from the get go without major configuration in the back end. For Example Search Engine Friendly URLs. HTTPS is another problem with v-mart along with getting Paypal Pro set up correctly.

Has anyone made the switch from V-mart to CS Cart active on cs-forum?

Also, does all the features that come with the CS Cart bundle ready to run on a live site? Or is their some coding involved. Sadly after three years of messing with Joomla and V-mart I’m still a novice.

I also noticed their isn’t an edit option in the front end when logged into admin, or maybe I didn’t know what symbol to look for. It comes in handy for small errors like spelling and prices…

check barnlightelectric.com.

WAS Joomla/Virtumant and by chance they did exactly the same thing.

I noticed it loads up extremely faster then my current website with v-mart and Joomla. However, that site you listed didn’t have use the attribute feature heavily like I would have to due to my type of business.

For example : KB Motorsports

i just noticed I posted this thread in the general questions… Sorry in advance.
I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that this cart will be an overall upgrade from V-Mart. That is user friendly and easily upgradable…
Hi KBM, CS will be the perfect switch for you to make for your motorsports store, the product features (attributes) are actually very easy once you learn how they work and having a bunch of features will not low down your cart down. The new CS 2.0 offers a host of out of the box features, addons, modules that no other competitor offers, let us know if you need help making the transfer over - Sno

Do you know when the Beta is going to be released? Tonight after spending 30 mins or more with the attribute feature I think I figured out how to use it. I didn’t get to test it very long because the site refreshed itself. However, I couldn’t find an attribute option that allowed the customer to type in what he/she wanted… Could you tell me how to do that?

Does all the add ons that come with CS-Cart in working order? no code configuration necessary right?
Do you know when the Beta is going to be released?
no but I would guess several more weeks…

sure it’s easy, in the product features section:

http://beta.cs-cart.com/admin.php?dispatch=product_features.manage

click add new feature, in the type field choose Text, that’s it, the customer will then have a text input field to type in text for cusom lettering, engraving, t-shirts ect…

Yes, all the CS Addons will be in working order, no coding or additional modifications will be neccessary.

i use joomla alot but NEVER for stores if its up to me. I do not like VM. CS cart is soo much better and its worth paying the extra money for. If you have problems the forums here are great, The vm forums, you will get moldy before you get an answer.

We made the switch from Joomla/Virtuemart a few months ago and it has been the best move we made. It became very difficult to keep up with the constant upgrades and .php programming with Virtuemart.

CS-Cart right out of the box is great! In my opinion it has the most features for the money and several of the regulars on this board will help you. You will not find this support with Joomla/Virtuemart.

Also, this board has some folks that are great with code if you need some features not offered. Support has been great with the CS-Cart folks and those on this board. No cart provides every single feature, but by far CS-Cart has got the majority of them beat. We are glad we made the change!

Joomla/Virtuemart is fine for those starting out, but once you move into a full time business it is time to use CS-Cart.

Hello,

Before start my projetc I wanted work with Joomla and VM… VM is good but Cscart is best!!

Admin is very easy… Addons are crazy… Support Help desk very efficient!!!

I use joomla to present some information and I’ve insert Cscart in my joomla Website, in other folder.

VM is better for design if you know joomla architecture. Because CSCART is a different langage with Smarty (Undetsand nothing in smarty).

I advice you CScart. After prepare my shop with VM, at last time I decided to use Cscart and change all. And now I recommand you CScart!!

Byby.

Joomla+VM is the worst choice to do ecommerce, trust me!!!

BTW, how come it will take 1-3 business days to setup an account? Plus the verification period, for 3 days I have not got my account even I have already paid!

I have put all my confidence into cs-cart and I think it is the best ecommerce platform in the market. It will have a very very big future!

However, I really have a cow in the very beginning applying and purchsing process of cs-cart for taking me so much time to wait (I really want to get started right after I am verified and paid).

Please, any honorable staff from cs-cart team can appease my feeling and explain this?

I am not affiliated with CS-Cart, but I think they had some type of Russian Orthadox holiday yesterday 1/7/09 so maybe they are just getting caught back up.

Thanks for your kind information.

I love all aspects of cs-cart even the part for keeping me waiting!

The reason is simple: the community and their product is excellent!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know I made the switch. I love the tech support that CS-Cart offers and so far Kate @ supportdesk has been awesome to us . We ran into a few minor issues here and there and most were solved in a few hours.

anyone going the shop route should go with cs cart. i hate VM,

I want to say it again: stay away with any other shopping carts except cs-cart!

Hello,

I’m using CS-Cart and Virtuemart shopping carts.

Really?

95% of my revenues are there thanks to Virtuemart.

Why?

My 2 flagship websites are not the same market. But Virtuemart is faster. A lot faster.

I think this is the big Virtuemart’s advantage. Despite all the cuts I made on CS to speedup CS, CS-Cart is still a slug…

We have to know that shopping cart is just a tool. How to generate sales is another story. I don’t understand why cs-cart only makes 5% of your revenue…Maybe you put the money into development?

Virtuemart is very basic, it’s truth, but I earn money with.

I don’t know too why cs-cart only makes 5% of my revenue…

My 2 websites are #1 on Google.

Quite same design and skin.

Quite same products (clothes for women and infants), prices, photos (quality), marketing tips & ticks, and so on…

Virtuemart’s conversion rate: 2% and more

CS-Cart’s conversion rate: 0.2% and less

This is a very big enigma for me, and a biggest disappointment, because I stopped Virtuemart’s development a long time ago, to only work with CS-Cart.

For nothing until now

CS-Cart brings me nothing or so few, I can wait one year, just to refund my CS-Cart license…

Believe me, I’m so disappointed

Is CS-Cart too slow? Too difficult to understand, too powerful for my customers/market?

Is CS-Cart is the good tool to sell clothes???

What a pity, CS-Cart is so powerful, so fun to use it for webmaster…

And so slow for customers!

I think it is the problem of your hosting. Which hosting are you using now?
