Somebody use Google Sitemap Generator?
To create my sitemap to get indexed by Google.
Is it necessary, or initial “sitemap” is not enought? It’s same thing… no?

Use this one, definitely a lot less hassle then running scripts

I bought and installed this one and it crashed my site. I now use gsitecrawler which was recommeneded here by someone. It’s worked well. 6 #1 ranking in first week with products. Hope t his helps.

I’m not sure why someone would take a mod that was posted for FREE like 1.5+ yrs ago and try to sell it for $8, it seems selling the installation would be more appropriate. In addition people like I, sculpting, Matt, Zardos (and many others…) have spent a ridiculous amount of our own time resources putting together mods/addons FREE to the community, I would expect others, as yourself to do the same, especially with the ridiculously simple mods like the drop down menu, the code already exists for drop down menus in the admin backend. Aj, un-install the Google Sitemap mod and install this Addon for FREE:

I had a similar experience after I purchased the code and dropped it in. I spent 8 hours getting it back to normal. I no longer use it and went to GSCcrawler as suggested by someone on forum. i’ve had 785 pages indexed on google. So, that works for me.
I have read through the thread and there’s just a couple of areas I am not clear on.
I have the addon installed which seems to work very well, however I’m a little confused as to when the XML is updated.
Do you have to run the URL to update the file or is this done automatically?
If its not updated automatically can a cron tab be created to update the XML daily?
The Sitemap: option in the robot.txt file, what does this do? Is it to tell bots where to find the file?

Yes, it is automatically updated/generated.
Yes, the sitemap in the robot.txt file is to let the search engines know.

I appreciate your work (and many others…) for the community but your post is not accurate.
For the google sitemap we have developped more faster mysql requests and a more improved code to not freeze the google spiders if there are too many products, ability to to select Changefreq…etc.

because if the mod already exists and I don’t have to to code it myself it’s much easier to get whatever mod someelse created, and Yes the mod already exists within CS: admin.php?target=settings§ion_id=Appearance, enable “Use Drop-Down menu in administrator area”, all you need to do is move the code over to the customer side, change the variables and a few other modifications, like adding/changing the css styles and it’s done, so yes 95% of the code for drop down menus already exists within cs…

This is your opinion. If it would be so simple…
All our mods are developped with a completely unique code.
I mean this dispute has no sense.
