Alt Tag

Hi, looking for some help.

Is there a way that I can search for a specific word in all the product Alt Tags on my site?

I have been going through them manually and removing what I need, but after 3 hours my brain is fried. The word or phrase does not appear in all 3000+ products, but I need to see where and do custom edits and a list would help me to locate them.

Hope someone has some basic info that I can follow as I am not a developer, and know only the basic stuff to keep my website products up to date.

thanks

Shaz

export your products, name id and image details to a spreadsheet and ctrl + f the word and delete that way

Hi John

and then what please?

how does the website know to alter what was done on my desktop?

then re import the file and all that will have changed is the alt tags.

Backup before you do it then if any issues you can just restore

OR save the file as a different name then you can just re import the original exported file if issues

https://docs.cs-cart.com/latest/user_guide/manage_products/import_export/advanced_product_import.html

If I just reimport the pics with a different name for the products and do none of this, will it remove the old ALT Tags so that they are not searchable? I am out of my depth here.

there are roughly 300 products with tags that must be edited.

If the above will work, I will just spend my night doing that.

Let me know if you think it will work.

thanks

If you just want to receive a list of products containing a certain alt tag, just export all the data about them to CSV file, open it up in Excel, and search for the phrase or create a filter to find them.

I am not a SEO specialist, and I don't know how do you add those alt tags to images (through image names, or external add-ons?), but I wouldn't be 100% sure that CS-Cart will be able to correctly import the CSV file containing those tags.

Best regards,

Robert

thanks all

I ended up working with the excel file and using it to search and edit the items that needed it.

Sure that will work,

2 ways, either just re import the ones you have changed or, just chamnge the ones you want and re import the lot back. Anything that hasnt changed will stay the same
