I have made a copy of my web site (small site selling maybe 400 products) into a sub folder as a dev site as I am updating from Vivashop theme 2.x to version 3, which is a major update that requires you to basically redo the home page and other parts of the site.
The last two or three evenings as I've been making changes to the blocks, etc. after a short time the site becomes unresponsive and starts giving me timeout messages. Then when I check other sites on my VPS (I sell hosting, so I have maybe a dozen other sites on this VPS), they are also non-responsive.
If I wait a while, everything comes back up and operates normally. Rinse and repeat.
So simply editing the layout blocks in my theme overwhelms my VPS. Really?
I've contacted chat support 3 times (I'm with InMotion) and they have tried several things, but nothing fixes the problem. After some time, the 3rd person I chatted with said I needed to log a ticket, which I did. They responded to the ticket this morning and asked how to reproduce the problem.
Does anyone have any insight?

My vps has 24GB of raw and clearing cache on 4.8.1 was making server non responsive for maybe 5mins. But after upgrade to 4.12.1 everything is rocket fast..
What is your suggested fix for that? Toss more money to the hosting company for more RAM list isixhosting is suggesting?
If you are running a dozen sites or so, for sure. Normally we run CS-Cart on at least 4 cores / 16 GB of ram if the database is also located on the same server. If not, we tend to use compute optimized containers (using e.g. graviton), with 4 cpu cores / 4-8 gb of ram.
I'm not sure the recommended resources should be based on the number of products but the traffic the site is generating. 12-16GB Ram for a site with 10 visitors per day is very excessive even with 400 products.
I don't know in which region of the world you are targeting your audience but if it is not far from Canada or France try Planethoster.
OK thanks. I'm in the USA. Since I'm already with InMotion, I'd probably stay with them if I was to go to a dedicated server. Their prices seem quite good.
