Anyone Updated From Vivashop 2.xx To Version 3.x?

I am a long time user of the Vivashop theme. I'm currently running version 4.11.5 of the cart and version 2.34 of the Vivashop theme.

In December of last year, the developers of Vivashop completely rewrote their theme. In looking at the upgrade instructions, it looks like a person has to completely uninstall any files related to the old theme, and then install version 3.x as if you were installing a completely new theme.

Their stuff usually works really well. But I would be interested to hear from anyone who has successfully done a straight upgrade from 2.x to 3.x and how that went and what the results were.

I find I have less and less time for tinkering with this kind of thing, and especially trying to troubleshoot what went wrong if things go pear shaped. So let me know what your experiences are and whether it was fairly straightforward or very involved and time-consuming. If it's the latter, then I probably need to wait until I'm less busy with other things and can block out some extra time for it.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

AFAIK, upgrading from v2 to v3 would require you to redo your layouts and settings.

I am on 4.9.3 sp1 with viva 2.26. Planning to do a major upgrade using a dev store first.

So the first step in the upgrade (from 2.x to 3.x) instructions says:

Log into your administrator area and navigate to "Design" - "Themes". Hover over the default CS-Cart theme "Bright theme" image and click "Activate".

But I'm not seeing a "Bright" theme. The closest I have is "Brightness." Are the instructions incorrect or am I missing something?

Yes, instructions are incorrect, Brightness will work. You just need to change the theme to any non viva-shop theme so you can delete it

Ah, I see. Does it matter if I switch to a so-called "Basic" theme or "Responsive" theme? Or is "Non-Vivashop" all that matters?

"Non-Vivashop" theme all that matters.

OK. Thanks so much!

Dear kogi,
Thanks for your messages and help.
Instructions are correct. The "Bright theme" is a CS-Cart default theme, as it may be seen the official demo here .
You just most probably don't have the "Bright theme" installed. If you go to "Design" - "Themes" and click on the "Browse all available themes" tab, you should see the "Bright theme” there.
Yes indeed you can switch to any other default CS-Cart/Multi-Vendor theme during the process. In the theme docs we have just randomly picked the "Bright theme".
As a matter of fact, that was a great point to be mentioned in the theme docs, so we have now adjusted that section of the theme documentation, in order to avoid any eventual further confusions.

So I created a dev site and installed the theme. It looks awesome, but it's going to take a while to get it customized to my store. The customization options are pretty mind boggling.

So, presumably I would have to get the dev store looking like I want it, then when I'm ready to go live with it I would need to import the orders that have come in in the meantime, correct? (plus any other changes, like new products added, etc.).

Dear kingsleypress,
We're happy that you like it :)
Yes, you need to import the latest orders, users, products, etc. before transferring your development store to your live store.
Always remember to make a local backup of both the files and database of the live store before making any major changes.

Take a look at the attached image. Does anyone know how to get the Info block (the one that has the stuff about payment methods, shipping, etc.) BELOW the description? This is when viewed on a phone. When viewed on desktop, that info box is off to the right, which is perfect. But on mobile, I feel like the Description should come right below the product image/add to cart.

Is this the product page? Feels like a bug, report it

Yes, this is the product page. Attached is a screenshot after I've scrolled up a little. I feel like the description should come right after the "Wish List/Comparison" bar.

According to EnergoThemes, this is the intended behaviour, not a bug. They very kindly modified my installation to put the Quick Info below the description for mobile devices (phone/tablet).

I'm extremely pleased with the upgrade from version 2.x to 3.x. My site looks really sharp and the support from Energo has been absolutely first class. Highly recommended!

Hmm lots of burgers you got there :)

I think those things like home, about is enough to fit in bottom of site..

Burgers? Is that a reference to the menus?

Yep :) hamburger menu

You can just turn them off in layouts

They are fine to be there.

Sure you can keep them the way you like it. Most traffic these days come from smartphones and having 3 menus in one place may be confusing to some.. I would really aim for best phone experience..
