Seo Question .html

I may be living under a rock but from since day one my site links were and are + .html

domain.com/product1.html

domain.com/page1.html

domain.com/category

Just few days ago among keywords interest me, within say 5 pages I did not find a single link .html

So any feedback on this topic would be welcome.

Also how do I go to changing things to

domain.com/product1

domain.com/page1

domain.com/category

Thanks

Maybe you need to look at SEO add-on ( Add-ons > Manage add-ons). You'll get redirects though. Hope that helps.

I know of this setting, but will links be redirected automatically ?

And will I benifit anyhow from it ?

I think, yes. Try on the demo just in case

Good idea!

And yes, 301 are done automatically.

What would your personal experience - opinion on this matter?

1. getting rid of .html (sure I think if content is poor it wont benefit, but if there were too identical contents would you think bot would prefer shorter url ?

2. currently my categories are /category/subcategory/

white products

domain.com/product1

domain.com/product2

and so on, long time ago decided I want my urls to be as short as possible, but I cannot say I have strong, meaning good rank product pages or category pages, some of my blog pages and index page is rankest best.

Just if you can say yes no to the above it would be great. Thanks

First of all, let me know which CMS are you using on your site? And did you try to change permalink? It's called permalink that you can find in your CMS's settings.
