I normally consider myself somewhat technically savvy, but variations are kicking my ass. I had option combinations and I want to create products with variations and remove the old unsupported products.
I've searched all over the net for any video on setting it up start to finish and can't find one. I created a new product, added features hat color and logo and defined their variants. when I try and create variations, it tells me I have no existing products and if I click on create new product, it doesn't do anything.
Right now I feel like some village is missing their idiot!
Is there a moron document somewhere that starts as adding a product and then goes thru the process?
Right now I'm running Store 4.11.5.

In 4.11.5 to create a new product of variation, you must first have a particular variation of a feature. So use color for example, if you make a product and under features default color of black, then flesh out the rest of the product details, under variations, select add new product and choose white and it will then create a second child product as white with all the same main specs just different product code and image if you choose. It does take some getting used to the logic but it does work. I guess they have changed this process to be easier in 4.12 but I haven’t received the update to try it yet.

The problem is, something about my product doesn't like the "create new product" button.. it doesnt' do anything. Also, how do you control inventory in variations? I have solid color hats and I used to control inventory of each color in the approved combinations. Now I can't seem where to set that up.. all of them say 10 on hand which is what was originally in for the first color.
I very much appreciate your help and anyone else taking the time to try and help this idiot get back to my village.
Like someone above said, you always need to select a Feature to open up the Variation area (in our version 4.11.5 at least). We've said for months that if they could have just created this all under one Variations tab, it would have simplified things for all.
You can drill down into each independent product to change inventory quantity, images, etc. Or click "Actions" drop-down "Manage Variations" to edit fields that way.
My question is for Options and how to manage inventory within product variations under this (now defunct) area. We have used Options heavily, and have customization built around this feature. Any help from anyone out there is much appreciated!
