Try Version 4.12.1 Before Release

We have released version 4.12.1 Beta. It will be useful to:

  • add-on and theme developers—they can test their products in advance to prepare for 4.12.1;
  • the merchants who are interested to see how the new version will work, and what they’ll have to do during the upgrade.

The full list of changes is very long, so we left it in the changelog and in the post-upgrade notifications. We also have an article about technical changes for developers.

The best way to try 4.12.1 Beta is to upgrade from the previous version:

1. Make sure that your store runs on 4.11.5.

2. Create a dev copy of your store. Make sure to close the storefront. It is a requirement for a dev copy, while you are still using your own key.

Don’t upgrade your live store to 4.12.1 Beta—there won’t be an upgrade from the Beta to the final 4.12.1 release.

3. In your test copy, go to Settings → Licensing mode and change the key to the one that matches your product:


CS-Cart: CS-BETA-5ZY3-7646-934K-LL2C
Multi-Vendor: MV-ULT-BETA-AI6N-37OD-47TV-CG31

These keys will only have one upgrade: from 4.11.5 to 4.12.1. Once the testing is over, we will disable these keys. When you enter and save them, you’ll no longer need to keep the storefront closed. But it’s best to open in after step 4.

4. Install the upgrade. After the upgrade you’ll see notifications about the changes. They’ll tell you what to do and check next.


If you can’t upgrade a test copy for any reason, you’ll still be able to try 4.10.1 RC as a new installation. Just download CS-Cart 4.12.1 Beta or Multi-Vendor 4.12.1 Beta and use the corresponding keys provided above.

I would recommend people DO NOT try 4.12.1 yet since 4.11.5 has some major issues with Multi-Vendor.

V.4.11.5 doesn't allow vendors to pay their marketplace fees and when they click the "Pay the Fees" button it slows down the site incredibly. Since we upgraded over a week ago we are getting non-stop complaints from customers and vendors on the sites poor performance and slowness. Some buyers have emailed us they abandoned making a purchase because of the slowness.

We place a ticket with CS-Cart support a week ago, but have gotten two responses without any urgency to help us. We are at the ready to work with the support team to fix our issues but every time we respond to them they say it will take "2-3 Business Days" to get back to us. Really? They respond, we try their suggestion within an hour then respond back...and have to wait 3 MORE DAYS to get another response?

I understand when you first place a ticket you need to wait in line...but once you are engaged with the support team why do they walk away after one comment that didn't fix the issue?

Considering the urgency of this issue it's disappointing that CS-Cart doesn't seem to care our business is suffering.

I apologize for posting this in this thread, but I'm not sure how to get someone at CS-Cart to realize we are having a major issue with V.4.11.5 and need help.

the variations look way better

one question have a look at the image i have attached.

we have a product that comes in 2 diferent colors in this case.

i have created product in color Green and than added variation in black color.

now i have to go to each variation to change images of the products.

can the images for variation color black use same images as parent .

you see i have changed color black first image, but childs of color black have still images from green .

But how would that work for other types of products? There are plenty of cases where both color and size have different images. I'd suggest getting an actual developer to make these changes.

this can be done with a single option where the vendor have the ability to select use parent images with a click " false or true "

Main image on product page or quick view doesn't change when option is selected.It was working fine in previous versions. Check it out for "100 gr. pants" for example. (unable to upload images on here??)

Editing block "Deliver to". When unchecking "required" for the profile fields city, country and state, after "save" they revert back to "mandatory". The problem is mainly for "state/province" field. Many countries do not have this in their address formats and customers simply leave the site, unable to complete the payment.

Profile "auto save" at checkout. Let say registered customer already have an address saved on their profile which they use regularly or it's their "Main" address, if "multiple profiles" is enabled. When he/she changes shipping address at checkout for one time use, for example: sending a gift to someone, that new address replaces the existing one on his/her profile and this happens without customer's consent. They might not notice the change and next order would be shipped to the wrong address. Please, give customer option to save that new address or not.

Btw, what kind of image extensions am I allowed to use for posting on here? I tried JPEG and PNG for this post - both rejected. Thank you.

Products: Some product settings were moved from the product editing page to “Settings > General”, “Settings > Appearance”, and “Settings > Checkout”; they are now specified for all products. It’s up to you whether to make them editable for individual products.

I have tested on demo site and see that if vendor A added feature, the vendor B, C ... can see it and use in product features if they use the same category. If you have few hundreds of vendors and everyone will create a feature will be big list in product feature tab. Another question if vendor B will use already created by vendor A feature and this vendor in the future will remove or disable what happened than?

Can someone to clarify more about it please?

I have optimized those queries for 4.12 and they should be in the release.

Features will now be collected in bulk from the database on the *frontend*, instead of one by one.

For the backend, they are still retrieved one by one, but in a lazy list, so it shouldn't be too big of an issue. I would still like to rework it to be also retrieved in bulk, but that wasn't too big of an issue for me at the moment.

Unfortunately, we had to postpone its implementation after we demonstrated it in the video. There were some technical issues. So, in 4.12.1, this functionality will appear only in a few places. For example, in the settings of the "Vendor-to-admin payments" add-on. We're still planning to implement it on a larger scale in the future.

Out of curiousity. Option combinations will be deprecated.
We sell two type of products:
1) Products like clothing, with a size and color option.

2) Custom products which have for example: Color 1, Color 2, Size 1, Size 2, Material, Inside Color
We use options for them now. That is something that will stay right? We dont use work with stuck since there are about 130.000 possible combinations. The product has a fixed price for most options, some options cost an additional fee.
The option part will stay, it's only the option combinations that are replaced by the Variations.

Is this correct?

Options will absolutely stay. They serve exactly this purpose: "Extended warranty", "Gift wrap", and custom products (to an extent). You might want to use variations if you'd like your custom products to have different images depending on the selected color/inside color. Because the changing main image of the product was also provided by option combinations (variations, on the other hand, either have their own images, or all share the same images).

P.S. If your store had option combinations, you should be offered to turn them into variations automatically before the upgrade.

I see option combination will not be supported anymore but what about options exceptions?

On version 4.12.2 it is still possible to manage exception but it create an error on storefront by always switching to primary language when you select an option. Is that a bug or because options exception is not supported anymore?

So far away from each other? That is the very basis of a multivendor START UP. For a new user and all vendors ... its like going eastern egg hunt ...... look all over the page to find something that should be so decently put together

Any hope of you changing that soon?
