Yes, I did. Most probably I'm doing something wrong. But I don't know what...

I'm having the same problem. I am trying all sorts of ways to import but every time I do, it imports the products as separate products, not as variations on a product. The key I think is that on the page noted above (https://docs.cs-cart...ion_import.html) the example file has a column called "Product Type" and this tells you if it is a "configurable" product and then identifies the related "variations". However, the instructions say that you don't need this column. I tried it without and it imported as separate products. Then I tried it with that column however, in the import area, there is no field to map this to. So, it is not recognized and the same failure occurs.

If anyone has solved the problem, it would be very helpful. I have a sample import file to share if that is helpful.

YOu have a variation group code column for all products that are part of JC002

then set as default "variation set as default column", this should be set as Y

then all other products that are part of  the  same"Variation group code" JC002 (but maybe a different size or colour) so eg JC002 Yellow Large to be set as "N"

Thanks @johnbol1 ... that is helpful, but it is very different from the sample displayed here:

https://docs.cs-cart...ion_import.html

Would it be fair to say that all I need for columns is the "Variation Group Code" and the "Variations set as Default" columns? I'm actually attempting to migrate a vendor from Shopify to CS Cart so most of the columns in your sample are not available to me. I will have to create and populate them so the less I have to do, the better.

Thank you for your help!

Probably best if in admin you create 1 main test product and the add 1 or 2 "variations" to it, then export the products to .csv to see the structure you need

I appreciate that, but that was the very first thing I did. There is almost no way a product export from Shopify can be imported, with variations, into CS Cart.

The instructions on how to import a file with variations is not even close to the file format created from an export....as you suggest. That is actually why I went to the documentation to see if it would be easier. It is easier, but it doesn't work.

So, I have two choices:

1. Create an export file and match up my import file to that structure - this is impractical for any sample file I have as I need to update the import file structure for 4000 products. To make the structure match, I will need to touch every single product.

2. Import the file without any variations and simply edit each one by hand. Likely, not much different in terms of time commitment than trying to get an import file to work.

If I've missed an option here, I would appreciate further comments. If anyone from CS Cart is reading this thread, it is an area I would recommend for future development. The need to import large quantities of products, with variations, is currently needlessly complex. At the very least, it would be great if your documentation resulted in an importable file.

Thanks!!
