Module: Webp Converter

Hello. We are glad to announce our new CS-Cart addon "WebP Converter"

This addon adds ability to use WebP images in CS-Cart. This format developed by Google Inc. in 2010. It uses the newest algorithms of compression, so:

- Quality is not lost

- Image size is much less

- Increases page load speed

- Increases Google Speed rating, because usage of WebP images - one of main requirements of this service

Abilities:

- Convert all images to WebP by one click

- Auto convert images to WebP on upload

Demo

All images on this store were converted to WebP. You can check it in browser console.

CAUTION!!! This action will create new WEBP images from old and DELETE all old images! Backup all store files and database before performing this action (better to make actual copy of the store with new database in the next folder, process first bulk convertation and if success rename folders to change live store to copy)! Also check write permissions for the images folder.

Make sure that you have the necessary knowledge to perform this action!

The developer is not responsible for the possible loss of data as a result of your actions!

Idea is great but, why u deleting old images ? Just create backups for all

Good addon, what about already existing links to /iamges.image_test.jpg on any html pages

do these links need converting manually

Thanks

our module converts just images that presents in database

Excellent addon speed of the website has improved dramtically I must also mention that the full image conversion worked flawlessly for me.

Also my Image directory decreased by nearly half the size it was before 58GB to 30GB. Thank you CS Coding

Would be great but I think there should still be a check if the browser supports webP, and if not, serve older file formats like jpg.

I havent find browsers that doesnt support webp. For ex. https://esmag.ru/ is our client store. Works in all browsers, so in Safari.

Also we have relised a new version that fixes some errors. We recommend to upgrade.

Unfortunately Safari doesn't support Webp and even if the latest version would support it, i want to be compatible with older versions as IOS devices have a long lifespan.

If it would check for webp support and otherwise serve jpg / png this would be an instant buy for me. However, unfortunately now this is a no-go.

I agree, old images should remain, csc needs to serve original images to browsers that dont support Webp.

Let me know when you are ready

Just went to your website, but it is still saying you delete all old images ?

I need to make sure those images are used when a browser does not accept webp images.
