More Beneficial Forums

Greetings, fellow members.
While browsing these forums for answers and help, I have noticed that a user asks a question and respected members tried to help which is very much appreciated.
At the same time, some of the final answers appeared to be "check your pm".
I want to ask everyone: Does this kind of answer help other users with their problem? I believe that this is less than helping, because the solution never appeared on the forums and other users searching for the same or a similar problem will be forced to look elsewhere for a solution - or post a new thread to ask for help.
Now, there are a couple apparent issues arising from this scenario:
  1. Since the solution was not provided in the thread as a post, other users searching for a solution have their valuable time wasted on reading the whole thread but without a solution!
  2. As a result of a user unable to search for a solution (to an existing problem or question,) he/she will post it as a new thread. Therefore, there will be more threads for the same issue and:
    • More users will have their time wasted trying to find solutions from more than one threads. And
    • More users will have their time wasted when they post new threads for a similar or an existing issue.
  3. However, when the answers are provided inside a thread, our respected cs-cart team members will have lesser number of new threads to respond to. This will allow them:
  • more time to dedicate to working on new and improved features of cs-cart/ MVE,
  • to develop advanced and progressive plugins, and
  • to dedicate more time towards resolving existing support tickets/ bugs.
What do you guys think?

I think this forum is not as helpfull as it were on 1x and 2x basically you can only get a responds from third party developer, users are not active here any more…

Are there any parallel forums that users rely on?

Also, the forum did not render bullets/numbering correctly. In fact, it just shows my post as plain text.

Let me attach screenshots for both versions (one,as it appears as a post. Other, as i typed it out and intended it to display).
This needs rectification, IMHO.

True, but this mainly has to do with the fact that people are more inclined to contact Simtech directly via a PM or something as it just makes the entire business flow go a bit smoother.

It would make a great knowledge-base, if the solutions from those PMs were added to a FAQ page with a built-in search feature.

Is it possible at all?

Well, why would a company publish an FAQ when they can just charge ~€30 per hour instead?

Forums are built on people giving back information aswell as taking information. Maybe you should practice what you preach after getting some experience before making derogatory remarks.

I am happy with the FREE help I get here , and if it isnt here, i pay to get it.

Any other useful ideas out there?

Guys, let's make this an even better place.

True remark, I've stopped trying to find answers to my question(s) by searching previous posts and instead, just post my question directly. This is a pity.

As a former mod of a totally different forum, I had the experience how forum owners discourage having everything tied to one thread, as they earn money from new threads, not for existing long threads. But here this would work differently.

It is as explained, 3rd party developers don't gain money from laying it all out to everyone else rather than pm you with a commercial offer .
However, it would be nice when the OP would come back and explain "we solved problem X by using application Y from developer Z' or whatever they did to solve it.
