Stripe - Sca Authentication Coming Soon But Not Supported

Stripe are introducing Strong Customer Authentication on 14th September 2019 for payments within Europe.

I'm currently using the WebKul Stripe payment addon which will not support this as it uses the older Charge API, rather than the newer Elements API.

I have asked both WebKul and SimTech (who have an alternative addon which also uses Charge API), neither have committed to making any change to support SCA and simply requested that we be patient and wait to see if they choose to support it.

The change is now weeks away, so this puts us in a difficult position, we need to know we will b able to continue taking payments throgh our chosen gateway.

- Is anyone else in the same boat?

- Are there any other alternative solutions for Stipe payments?

Thanks,

Geraint

Stripe: On 14 September 2019, new requirements for authenticating online payments will be introduced in Europe as part of the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2).

Its not just Stripe, its also PayPal as I have heard.

indeed, It is payments in Europe really I think so many other processors too, if not all.

With PayPal it will be included within their user flow as a matter of course, but it seems with Stripe this would only happen if you are using the new Elements API (and not the older Charge API).

At the moment it appears that there is no solution for CS-Cart to take payments using Stripe in Europe after SCA comes in (September) - I can't quite believe that's the case, it's really the reason for posting this.

Only two weeks to go and we're starting to get worried about the lack of Stripe SCA PSD2 implementation in cs-cart. This could cause significant issues for those using Stripe if it's not addressed before the deadline.

Please, can someone answer a question (cs cart team?) is Stripe connect will work after 14th of September? Do I need to do something? Below is email I got:

Hello,

With the Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) deadline coming up soon, here’s what to expect on Saturday, 14 September.

After announcements by many national regulators, we anticipate a phased enforcement of the new SCA requirements over the coming months. However, we do expect some European banks to start declining payments that aren’t SCA-ready starting 14 September.

Our information shows that you still need to make changes to your Stripe integration in order to prepare for SCA and help avoid an increase in declines starting 14 September. Updating your integration can require frontend, backend, and client bindings version changes, so we recommend that you begin updating your integration as soon as possible.

Once your integration is updated, we’ll dynamically start applying exemptions and authentication when required by the cardholder’s bank—taking into account each country’s enforcement timeline to minimise friction.

Read our migration guide for Connect platforms to start updating your integration and get ready for SCA before 14 September.

Dear Members,

We would like to inform you all that we have updated our add-on to comply with the new SCA rules. We are late to inform you, however, the updated add-on is available from 14th September. We have changed the API. You can have a look at https://store.webkul.com/CS-Cart-Stripe-Payment-Gateway.html

For any other assistance, you can always reach out to us.

Built-in Stripe Connect integrations in CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor support SCA (3D Secure) starting with version 4.10.4 (released on September 11). In Multi-Vendor, you can enable 3D Secure in the Stripe Connect payment method settings.
