Newsletter/magazine software?

I want to make a stand-alone newsletter/magazine.

I will use Dreamweaver for the site design. any thoughts on software for subscription management?

I will probably email a link to each new issue based on a shopping cart mysql database.

Maybe down the road I will do advertising banners and classified. Is there good reasonably priced software for this? at first I could do the ads manually.

Any thoughts on things taht I am leaving out will be greatly appreciated.

Why not just

- Design site in dreamweaver
- Turn into a wordpress theme
- Run on wordpress
- Use one of the great wordpress subscription management plugins
