I have a 4.5.2 store with some groups of products that I want to add feature data to. I haven't imported data this way before and could use some help.
I've defined the feature variants on the products in the store. They are all text.
I have an excel workbook with the product name and codes, as well as the feature variant data under the same names. I do not need to add anything else.
The docs for this are sort of vague. I've tried exporting a file to use as a guide, but it really doesn't give a clear idea on setting up the import file.
I've seen a few add-ons, and I'm not opposed to buying something to help, but I'm not going to pay $257 (SimDev) for something that I won't probably be using all that often.
Could someone walk me through the process, post links, or offer some add-ons that will make this easier?
TIA,
Jack
You should be able to setup a product with features and then export that product to view what the 'Features' column should look like.
Well, I get all the products and something like this. But I don't see how I'm going to get the .csv file from excel to look like it. Plus I'm not sure what the "M" and "S" feature variant codes are.
"en";"CB15000P";"Big Blue CB15000P 15000 Lumen Video Light";"2792";"(Google export features) Availability: S[in stock]; Brand: E[Big Blue]; Focus & Video Light Types: M[Video Lights]; Condition: M[New]; Google Category: M[Cameras & Optics > Camera & Optic Accessories > Camera Accessories > Underwater Camera Housings]; Google Priority Label: M[Medium]; (Lights) Lumen Output: M[15,000]; (Lights) Beam Types: M[Flood]; (Lights) Burst Capability: S[No]; (Lights) Depth Rating: M[300']; (Lights) Controls: M[Push-button]"
I saw Econ-labs add-on to have the features in columns. It seems like this might help organize them?

Use our addon to make import easier
Thanks for that and I'll try your add-on. However right now my .csv data file looks like this:
Big Blue VL15000P PRO MINI TC,15000,Flood / Red,160°,No,180 Minutes,100m / 330 ft,Push button with battery level meter,"3"" x 5"" / 76 x 127.2 mm",310g,769g,Li-ion 18650 x 7,"$1,149.99 ",,VL15000P-Pro-MINI-TC,"Cool white, Warm white",CRI 75,"6500K, 5500K"
How do I get all the formatting into it? Will your add-on do that so that these features go into the products?
TIA,
Jack
Need to provide the header so we know what comma separated values are applied to what import column. But I don't see any features defined. Generally these are "name: value" or "{group name}name: value" type of data.

Go to Administration -> Import data -> Products (deprecated) and click on the (?) icon. You will see instructions for the required format
Our addon does not import/export features data in one column. Separate column is created for each product feature
