Good find. I have not noticed that they are both in one tab, but I did intend for similar products to be in a tab.
EDIT: I see now that it only appears that they are in one tab, but in fact the Customers also bought is not in a tab and appears at the bottom of each product detail page.
No, they are in different tabs. My question was, why are they in a tab, not in one tab. Do you have any difficulties putting the similar products under the main content?

I'm not seeing that. Customers also bought is not in a tab, it's a block in the Layout section for Product. To make it a tab you have to create that block in Product Tabs, which is a completely different section under, Design.
Anyway, I have no problem putting these things where I want them to go. I chose tabs in some cases because I don't like the pages to be cluttered with too many images and products. So many websites are all about up-selling and in my opinion it can easily be overdone and obnoxious. Most of our business is wholesale and largely returning customers.
Thanks, I will let you know if we end up going down this road. I am going to get some quotes and then inform my author client, who is interested in getting away from Amazon for ebooks. IF he doesn't approve of costs for development then we won't be doing it.
