I had given the customer a special price. I thought to either change the price on the product or issue a discount. I was unable to do either. I need to know how I can do this without creating an order with the regular price and then editing the order. The order was ok,d by paypal with the discounted price.

How does your order creation page look like? Don't you have a field to edit price?
Yes but that means that I have to create the order first and then edit it to apply the discount. I was hoping to be able to adjust the original set up to reflect the negotiated terms. Is there a way to change the price per piece to reflect the discount when selecting the product. Do I have to set up a promotion or something else in advance to handle these type of orders?

Do I have to download anything to try it. I clicked on the page which enlarged the form on the screen. There is a red arrow pointing to the price which has a blinking cursor but nothing happens when I try to change the price. I only get a plus (+) cursor or a minus (-).

It is allowed to edit price of product when adding an order in admin, we do it all the time.
+ to add order
Add product, choose product, select qty, add product.
Select check box, change price, recalculate totals.
