This directory appeared in .well.known directory in root.
I looked into it and it appears to be related to ssl.
Can anyone tell me how does it get there If I didnt do it, Im concerened who else can create directories in my root.

Do a google search for pki-validation, shows it is to do with your ssl certificate

Yes, I seen it was SSL but wondered how it gets there, seems like Cpanel creates it to sort SSL out. YEs I do have cpanel

If you do not use Perl I would switch to Plesk (much more stable & secured) instead of Cpanel.
