Meet Cs-Cart And Multi-Vendor 4.8.2

Hello! We have released CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor 4.8.2. As usual, the upgrade might not appear in your Upgrade Center immediately—for the first few days after the release we limit the number of available downloads and distribute upgrades in batches. So if you don’t see the upgrade yet, please try again later.

We use the term “patch release” for versions where the last digit in the number changes (such as the transition from 4.8.1 to 4.8.2). For backward compatibility and easier transitioning between versions, patch releases focus on fixing bugs and providing small, non-groundbreaking improvements. This time we have added the ability to run backup creation via a console command, improved the add-on management page, and more.

See the article in our blog to learn about the most significant changes in version 4.8.2. If you’d like the full list of changes, please refer to the changelog.

P.S. We have released 4.8.2 Service Pack 1. It solves two problems:
1. It was impossible to install any add-ons using the old non-responsive admin panel (the responsive admin panel was not affected by that issue).
2. The check whether the “Categories” field of a product was filled in didn’t work, and an attempt to create a product without any category resulted in a 404 error in Multi-Vendor.

We have also released Service Pack 2. It solves the following problem: after installing an add-on from the archive by using the “Upload and install” button on the add-on list, the administrator ended up on the 404 page.

So my subscription ends on Aug 16 (tomorrow). Is there any way to get this update before it ends? It would be silly that I don't get this update because ours was rolled out "randomly" a day too late.

Let me know what I can do.

Thanks.

I believe it's based on date of release not date of distribution or install.

That would be great! Let's hope.

Thanks.

That's great. How about an upgrade tool? It hasn't been upgraded since 4.7.2. You guys keep saying you're working on it, but...

Are you talking about store import? Upgrades are available at each release and if you're actually moving the same design forward, I'd rather do 10 upgrade versions than a store_import.

No, moving the data from live to a dev site then taking it live.

Contact CS-Cart license department with this question. Hope they will meet you halfway

tbirnseth is right. Only the release date matters in this case, so the upgrade should be available for your license.

[+] Products: Categories: The product editing page now allows to select a category from the tree in addition to typing its name.

The burger button in the right side to open the category tree is disappearing regardless of what browser i use. I have clear cache but same result.

Did you reproduce the same issue in the demo? If so, let us know which browsers you used. I tested this in Firefox and Chrome and the button appeared properly

Hi everyone please add "category mapping" field in import addon. Because whole company sent xml or csv not use site company category maping. They use their category map. if do not have category names to which products are added, having a hard time adding products to the categories in site....

Okay, process I generally use for my clients is:

1 - clone production to dev site

2 - Perform upgrade steps and resolve conflicts (saving resulting adjusted files)

3 - Client verifies dev site

4 - Schedule best time with client and backup production site

5 - Do same upgrade process on production and applying conflict adjustments

Store import messes with addons, misses some DB schema changes and is generally not as reliable (in my experience) as an iterative upgrade process. However, if upgrades steps are greater than about 10 and there are many customizations, then store import can be an advantage. But store_import expects you to load the native release, apply any design/layout changes, install addons, then do the store_import process.

I've just had poor results using it either because my clients take too long to review results and so the final "actualize" seems to not occur and it reverts to starting the process again or schema updates missed along the way take a long time to track down.

Also, once my clients get current, I encourage them to do (or work with me to do) upgrades as they come out (after about a 2 week soak period watching the forums for issues). As always, staying closest to current release level makes support a lot easier.

Thanks for that insight Tony.

Our current site had a lot of hard coding, so upgrades were tough.

We did move our dev site to a sub domain and are developing it there. But there's a lot of small changes and we're working with Unitheme which also has it's ins and out. We have some guidance from them on what needs to be saved and reloaded, but it's a bit vague in places.

I appreciate your methodology.

TIA,

Jack

It seems it is the wysiwyg editor: CKEditor (Full Package) is what causing the issue. It works well with the 3 built-in editor.

I upgraded 1 store today and it seems fine, but I noticed when I check the upgrade center in my admin it still shows 4.8.2SP1 in the Available upgrade Tab and when I check by way of mystore.com/admin.php?version, it shows CS-Cart 4.8.2.

As I browse around the back end I can see the old way of selecting categories on the product editing page and also the page id's are displayed next to the page in the admin area, so it looks as the store was upgraded fine.

4.8.2.SP1 is not the same version as 4.8.2. Service pack fixes an issue with installing add-ons in old admin panel.

I understand that.

I installed the v4.8.2SP1 but my store still shows 4.8.2.

Please check the upgrade log (var/upgade/core_log.txt) and make sure that upgrade was completed successfully
