Clean Install Import

We're doing a pretty complete redesign and upgrade of our non-responsive 4.5.3 store to the latest rev 4.7.3 or now 4.7.4. We're using UniTheme and modifying it as necessary.

This was an older v3 store that has been updated many times and has a lot of hard code in it. There's so much old code, that a clean install is the only good way to accomplish what we needed to do, so that we can simplfy and take advantage of the new built-in features and have less hard coding.

We were able to export/import most data such as Products, options, customers, orders, features, etc.

But we cannot find any way to port over: Pages, taxes, locations, shipping methods, filters.

Does anyone have any ideas on a way to do this, or do we have to cut and paste/re-create them?

Is there a way to import a .csv file of locations and tax rates? Here in WA state we have to charge by delivery address and we have many, many rates based on zip codes.

Thanks,

Jack

The Store import addon is probably the best/easiest way. Doiing a regular export/import is going to mess up the correlation between products, customer, orders.

It doesn't do everything, seems to time out quite a bit, and isn't compatible with newer versions - they said they weren't going to update it. We were able to bring over Products, options, customers, orders, features, etc. fine.

Yeah, I just looked at it again, you're right. The Orders and customers show up, I can still log into my account, but the products and customers aren't linked to past orders. Not sure how important that is, but it's not great. But we haven't had any luck with the Store Import tool for the past few revs...

4.7.2 is what the Store import is currently available for then you can upgrade from there.

The issues you are experiencing are most likely server related. Have you tried looking into the issues?

User IDs are not exported with profiles data. Due to this wrong customers are assigned to orders. It can be fixed with small modification in the users export schema

Have you guys at eCom Labs been able to do work with the Store Import tool yet?
We keep having issues with a certain SEO module and its compatibility with just the core functionality of CS Cart. I just upgraded to V4.7.4 better now know as the GDPR upgrade and we are no happy campers right now.

I am really considering starting from scratch and have the Store Import module import all of the data from the current live store and rebuilt the UniTheme in a new install. Import all the products, the customers, the orders placed by those customers, pages, rewarded reward points to those customers, shipping settings (rates, options and destinations). The works and leave out those addons that plague upgrading our store and sometimes rightly maintaining stability.

Are you guys perhaps free @eCom to assist? Please drop me a line if you are. May 25 is coming soon and we need to be ready for it.

Yes, we can help you. We have a wide experience with Store import addon and offer UniTheme. Our manager will contact you shortly

I am always puzzled where to start if you wish to rebuild your store from new.

I have no intention to switch themes / design I just need to ditch one major addon that is hampering upgrades. The store has a blog and uses the Cart Power Power Blog addon and a host of addons. Let me list them here

The addon that is not listed here and which one I am dumping is 4Sprungs Advanced SEO module in favor of CSCart Rocks SEO Ultimate 3.1.3

Because of the encrypted properties of 4Sprungs module of which AB Soft engineers are being accused of steeling the code from 4Sprung but that is a side note here, I cannot debug why the GDPR addon that is crucial for us in the EU(SSR) and a host of other addons conflict. 4Sprung claims it is poorly written code by everyone else except theres and vice versa because of the encryption I would have to hire 4Sprung each and everytime a hickup is there because of the code conflict between Advanced SEO and the other addons I am giving up on this Advanced SEO addon even though I see value in what it does for your store but I am tired of having to cope with issue we run into issues again that are related to the addons.

Perhaps someone here, perhaps if I can ask you third party developers or preferably other store owners what they think of the available default SEO options in CS Cart and the currently available addons.

I see alot of SEO addons that overlap but somehow leave out somehow do to not cover all.

The Store import addon is probably the best/easiest way. Doiing a regular export/import is going to mess up the correlation between products, customer, orders.

In my case would you recommend that I unstall this Advanced SEO module first in our live store before doing the import in the newstore ?

If I can recall, 3rd party addons are ignored.

Yes, that's what we experienced, no third party add-ons were imported.

Does anyone know how to transfer over locations, taxes, payment and shipping methods? Do these have to be cut and pasted/recreated?

Thanks,

Jack

If that did not got transferred then I am afraid you just answered your own question and that does not make me an happy camper as I am faced with that same issue.

But I just cannot even get the import started right now

Store import should bring in the locations, shipping and taxes.
