Volumetric weight, sometimes called "dim" or dimensional weight, is used when the space a shipment takes may cost more than the shipment's actual weight.

Now with Dimensional Weight Addon for CS-Cart you can calculate dimensional weight on every product, and compare that to its actual weight, and use the greater of the two to determine your shipping cost in checkout.

Volumetric weight for shipments is calculated using the formula :

Length x Width x Height in centimetres / 5000 = Volumetric Weight in kg

Our addon uses the default dimension fileds in shipping options tab in products to caclulate the Dimensional Weight. If this is greater than the actual weight then it will be used in checkout. If  you have no dimensions then actual weight will be used instead.

All you have to do is to set a shipping option as the option to be used for dimensional weight. Just click on the "use for caclulated weight" checkbox in the setting tabs of the shipping option you wish.

This adddon is compatible with verions 4.6.x and up

@FDGWEB
I think youll find that the weight units is taken care of by Settings: General >  [Grams in the unit of weight defined by the weight symbol]

Unfortunately, I think  the Weight Dependencies bug  will still be an issue,  mutually exclusive, but a deal-breaker for us

Also,  we need to be able to set the Volumetric weight factor,  rather than it being fixed at 5000!
For Australia post the factor is now 6000.
