All should care ;)

Please let me know if you care about your desk? do you care what is on it and how the office is arranged?

Everything is done for making the work environment-friendly and warm enough to enjoy the work

and also please think about managing multiple stores, how do you know what store you are operating?

If for example shoes store you have brown colors theme, for flowers store you have green will not be much easier?

This was also the idea behind our backend theme ;)

Everyone has their opinion I guess. Mine is still that color is pretty much irrelevant in an admin panel.

Hi,

It is actually very useful for those who have multiple stores / development environments as it makes it easier to distinguish them.

Kind regards,

Also, when managing multiple sites with both production and development environments, being able to easily distinguish between them is critical for reducing mistakes.

As we can see, it seems there are several option requirements  for header color in the admin panel.

1) Inherit from vendor (MVE) or storefront (cs-cart).

2) set to a specific color based on url (test.mysite.com or myslite.com/test, etc. or possibly if DEVELOPMENT == true)

3) force to a specific color (selected).

4) standard color

Please let me know if this is obvious enough  :D

@HungryWeb I emailed many times asking about your Chameleon Add-on - you never responded. Would that add-on work with vendor panels or just main admin panel? If you could make the add-on compatible with this responsive admin panel and also apply to vendor panels, it would be perfect!

Of course.  we can all add our own css or blocks to do whatever we want.  I think the point was how did we want cs-cart to address this.  My proposal (for consistency with other things in cs-cart) is to use Settings and select the option desired.

For #1, it would change when the Vendor or Storefront is changed.  (probably should be the default)

#2 would force it to a specific color if DEVELOPMENT == true, (see below for how to eliminate this as a selectable option)

#3 pick s color and

#4, do nothing.

This can be a setting in a drop-down and if the selection is to pick a specific color, the an additional option appears which is a color-selector.

The reason I wanted it in the settings is so when you clone a site, you don't have to change anything.  I.e. there is no special setup for a development site.  Obviously the DEVELOPMENT piece could simply be done as a config value. Ie

if( defined('DEVELOPMENT') )
  $config['admin_header_color'] = '#color-code';

which would eliminate #2 above and override the others.

If I have already changed the positioning of some of the blocks (like 'Order by status' and 'Recent Activity'), would this responsive add-on change them back to default positions?

Also, I'm not sure if I'm not looking hard enough, but I cannot see a sign out button when viewing from a smartphone? I can see it on the desktop and tablet view though

Thank you for your patience :)

Yes, is for vendors also, each vendor ca setup his own backend theme ;)

Please do me a favor and send once again the email and you will personally check it, thank you

Yes, most probably it will. The best practise is to do all the changes using add-ons.

Hello I have three suggestions:

1) Ability to change color to match front-end (needed for multivendor branding)

2) Add logo for vendor admin panels (good branding practice)

3) Add text to "+", "Gear", "->", "V" signs that are used to add element, see more options, go back, more options..it will be an enhancement form UI perspective. Save button has text but all other buttons have signs, making them all similar will improve usability.

It took me a while to get used to "+" and "Gear" signs, they are NOT attention-getter as they should.

Hi,

Thank you for constructive feedback.

1. We will think about this, below is a lot of post requiring the the ability to change color of admin/vendor area - so it's under investigation at the moment.

2. I don't see the need for vendor to see his logo in the backend, I suppose you suggest this from admin point of view.

3. This is a good suggestion and probably in near future we will consider such changes, but at the moment we are trying to make new admin responsive theme as much compatible with the current one as possible.

As for changing color of admin area, I see the following scenarios:

1. Different admin color for different storefronts. If you select a storefront in admin area you see the backend in custom color.

2. Different admin color for Vendor backend, Root admin see default color, if switched to vendor - see panel in custom color.

3. Different color (not customize but set by us) - when store is in Development mode or Store is Closed.

So to summarise scenarios are:

1. I will be able to select a color of backend for different storefronts in admin area

2. I will be able to select a color of vendors  backend

3. Color of backend will differ from default if I enabled Development mode or closed the store (I can no select the color myself)

What do you think, will it work for you?

I don't want to provide the ability to change default backend color for "All stores" / "All vendors" and for Development mode. It's because CS-Cart basic UX should be the same for all developers/owners

Thank you for reply:

Regarding item 2: In the demo store currently when vendor logs in, sees "simtech" at the top left corner of admin panel, just plain text, you should be able to add small simtech logo there - good branding practice.

The responsive admin panel is now available at the Marketplace as a separate add-on. Please note that if you have third-party add-ons that modify the Administration panel, you may have to adapt those add-ons, so that they support the new responsive design. We are already working on an instruction for developers. Once the instruction is tested, we'll publish it in our documentation and let you know here.
