Two Websites - One Back End? Need Suggestions For New Store

Hello

We sell mobile phone accessories and are now branching out into handsets.

We want the handsets part of the site to stand out its own, but would also prefer to use one back end for orders and customer management.

1. What is the best way of doing this with CS-Cart.

2. Can we do it on a subdomain I.E phones.digitalsave.co.uk - how?

2. Can we do it on its own unique URL - I.E phonesave.co.uk - how?

Does anyone know of any other cs-cart based mobile phone stores? Thanks

You can use the multistorefront functionality:

If by this you mean has it's own theme, categories, etc. then yes, you'd use a separate storefront for the handsets and share customers but not products. And yes, you could have example.com for your phone accessories (existing SEO) and then also have accessories.example.com and handsets.example.com and have the accessories subdomain be the new storefront and the accessories subdomain could be aliased to example.com. Over time you could reverse it as you build up your SEO.

I'd have block in the header of each that would redirect the customer to the other site if they want those products instead.

Thanks for the advice tbirnseth!

SeanDigitalSave,

I'd advise not to use storefronts. This mainly due to the fact that if anything may happen to one of your storefronts the other will suffer from it as well. I understand that it might be convenient to have the same backend for multiple stores but if you look ahead a different cs-cart backend is simply the best option.

Kind regards,
