We have an ongoing issue with the credit card numbers when entered by the customer do not allow them to proceed with their purchase. This happens often but not every time so when it does they call us to make their purchase and their cards process without difficulty. The frequency is almost one in fifteen and we are concerned that customers aren't proceeding to call us and orders are being lost. Our issue arises with Visa, MC and AMEX, not Diner's or Sage Pay, so is this likely to be corrected for them too with the new update improving credit card validation? Is there some other modification that will correct it?

is the issue validity from the card processor or from the JS that validates the card format?  I.e. is there a "Reason text" in the payment detail area of the admin order.details page?

it's the JS that is supposed to validate. There doesn't appear to be a reason text

Then it could be that newer cards have numbers that fail that validation.

Suggest you report to bugtracker to ensure that current JS validator conforms to current industry standards.  It's an algorithm that determines if a card number is valid.  Could be that the algorithm needs to be updated.

Hmmm. I thought that this was integral to the CS-Cart and not an add-on. Shouldn't it be keep current?

It is, but not every area of the code is validated against industry standards at each release.  It might just be time for an update.

I'm guessing you can't get the card numbers to verify so this is all a guess.

Please confirm that you follow PCI-DSS rules ?

This is required for security of the users credit card information.

I do not know.  But if you submit to bugtracker (with your current version), cs-cart will tell you if there's been an update or they will address the issue.  However, you might need to supply them a card number that will fail to duplicate the problem.  Especially if it's like 5% of your orders as you state.

I think what they have done is irrational.
