I notice that a lot of the thumbnail pics for CS Cart look a bit jagged and not sharp as opposed to some other sites. What is this due to? It’s not just this one CS Cart… I have seen it with others.

Make sure your actual thumbnail image sizes matches what you is set in CS-Cart (Admin settings>thumbnails).
Often the main culprit is larger(or smaller) images getting squeezed/streched to fit in smaller space resulting in pixelation etc.
