Good Alternatives To Paypal, Stripe?

Hello Guys,

Turns out when it comes to cognitive enhancing & brain health supplements, popular payment systems are extremely wary of getting involved.

A tip to any reading; make sure to get approved by Paypal before developing a system for it! I made this foolish mistake, spending way to much time and effort implementing adaptive paypal system with our multi vendor marketplace.

So, at the moment we are stuck facilitating only Bitcoin payments on the marketplace. As much of a Bitcoin fanboy as I am, it is necessary for growth that we accept other forms of payment. Does anyone know any good payment processor alternatives that may be suitable for this sort of industry?

Thank you!

Good Alternatives To Paypal, Stripe?

Stripe in your title is an opinion question? If yes, then we would recommend Stripe. Easy to set up, acceptable fees...

Hello MartFox,

Excuse my improper grammar! I meant to say, " Anyone know good alternatives to Paypal & Stripe" .

Stripe denied service as well :/

What is the reason (if you can explain it)?

What do you think about Braintree?

We have the Braintree Marketplace add-on that works with Multi-Vendor.

Braintree works well for me (not MV) but that company is part of the PayPal group, so not sure if that will work for him according to first post.

Payment processors are leery of many products (guns, pharma, etc.) and many will have specific exclusions. Many are also very leery of MVE environment given that the merchant is really collecting funds on behalf of someone else (in most single payment cases).

Suggest you verify BEFORE you implement/deploy that your particular payment processor supports the products you intend to sell AND the manner in which you intend to sell them.

I use (and would recommend) Square (http://squareup.com). They are international and by far the easiest integration between your online store any any brick-mortar or phone/tablet sales you might make. And of course, we offer an addon for square integration! :-)

Here's a link to the T&C's for Square (https://squareup.com/legal/ua). It excludes weapons but not pharma. Not sure if item #6 under Restrictions applies to MVE environments or not.

What is the reason (if you can explain it)?

They don't want anything to do with cognitive enhancement, or brain supplement sites. Supposedly they get lots of disputes which they'd rather avoid.

Yes, unfortunately Braintree is part of the Paypal monopoly - I've no hope they'll want anything to do with us. But i'l ask nevertheless. If by miracle they approve us you will all hear about it..

Did you check with Square or read their restrictions? I didn't see any restriction on the type of products you're discussing....

Meant to contact you yesterday but didn't get to it, sorry about that. I've gone over their policy and it looks promising.

Could you explain how your Stripe add-on would work in a MV environment? Does it function like Adaptive Paypal?

I don't offer Stripe, I offer Square. At present, Square does not provide for a 1 to many distribution of funds (though they are looking at it). There are legal issues that companies are concerned about in doing that since the recipient is pretty much blind to the customer. There are substantial problems as it relates to chargebacks, refunds, voids, disputes, etc. As the merchant, you assume all those liabilities.

The best solution is to capture payments via the normal 1-1 process (customer to you). Then utilize a product like Dwolla (or others) to use ACH transfers to move money between you and your vendors. You can then do two-way transfers so if you have paid a vendor and a product is returned, you can get your money back by simply debiting your vendor's bank account.

This keeps a single customer interface (you) and insulates your customers/vendors from each other beyond fulfillment.

Thank you for the continued assistance.

Excuse me, I meant to write Square.

Given Square can work with us, would you be able to set up Square on the marketplace, normal 1-1, for a set price? Would be very interested if you could provide such a service at a reasonable price.

Unfortunately MangoPay doesn't seem to work with USA residents.. Hmm is there any way to get around this?

Actually, no. It's really a one-button click to have square grant permission for the payment method (uses OAuth). But this requires your square account credentials to login to Square and grant the requested permissions. I do not want to have access to your square account credentials.

Happy to assist with and questions. But it's all pretty self-explanatory and the default options (like order statuses to use for Capture, Void and Refund) are simply selectors from your active order statuses.

Going to pick up your square add-on tomorrow, looking forward to letting you all know how fabulous it is.

The EZ Square add-on is FANTASTIC!! I can't recommend it enough!

Just what I needed, Square is the answer to the payment processor BS

To update, after about 10 successful orders with Square they cancelled our service, with the message:

"We're sorry to inform you that we are deactivating your account. We reviewed your account and found that your business is prohibited by Section 3 of the Payment Terms and/or Section 4 of the General Terms, which means we cannot accept payments related to your business."

So no more Square.. Are there any other options anyone knows about?

By the sounds of it you'll end up blacklisted on all the processors due to your line of business.

Clearly something not right with how you are doing the business or they just don't want the liability of being the facilitator of sending drugs not medically approved? Just a hunch, maybe i'm wrong.

Maybe eat a few of those 'Cognitive' pills you referred to and the answer will present itself :-)
