Hi I switched it to SMTP then switched back to PHP mail and it worked but I am sure we did not send all 2600 emails so I have a few issues.
1- Switching to SMTP throws this error 530 5.5.1 authentication required for our gmail account, checked all the settings but I can't enable less secure apps could that be the issue? Should I just use another email for our newsletter blasts?
2- Can we somehow tell where it stopped sending emails so we can finish sending them to the list?
Probably the easiest "fix" would be to use a third party email provider. Amazon SES is about the cheapest you'll find, and it has fantastic delivery rates. It'll work with your cart's newsletter addon using the SMTP function. https://aws.amazon.com/ses/pricing/
