Hi guys,

I have a problem that has been causing me some frustration, would really appreciate your help in troubleshooting.

I am trying to run a 20% storewide promotion.  I would like the coupon NOT to be valid on sale items (any product that is discounted already).

Sounds simple enough, but I am slowly realising that CS cart does not appear to be able to do this.

--------------------------------

I have tried making the other existing discounts applied through a Catalog Promotion, as well as reducing them manually.  Neither has worked.

Despite checking the box "Stop other rules" both promotions are applied to the product.

I can't afford to offer 20% off items that are already 50% off for example.

Is there some allowance for this that I am missing?

I have already had to remove my Quantity Discounts because I read this is not recognised either as an "other rule".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for replying!

I find it really crazy that it doesn't exclude other 'Catalog' Promotions, quantity discounts and manually applied price reductions.

There is literally no way I can run a coupon code promo without losing massively on already discounted items in my store.  Eek :(

This is a big issue in terms of running promotions.  Does anyone else feel the effect of this?

Thanks again.

I will report the bug, if it is one.

Set the conditions of the products which can use the coupon then there shouldn't be an issue unless i'm missing something here?

Just add a condition to say the Categories NOT IN 'your discounted category'. Do you mean there is a bug where other promotion is active it will override the other conditions? If so report it as a bug :-)

You should also check the Priority and whether you have the "Stop other rules" checkbox set.

If you have a higher Priority catalog promotion that discounts a product (higher than your coupon code), then you can have the "Stop other rules" checkbox ticked and it won't honor your coupon code.  Not sure if that will be limited to that individual item only or not.

What about list price, quantity discount? How to exclude those?

I used list price rather often, but due to risk applying a promotion to such price I no longer use list price. Have simply running promotions ex 10% 15% 20% and assign products to dedicated promotions.. Problem is when product names are similar had to see sold products..

List price has only one purpose....  To provide a discount tag.  It isn't used for anything else I'm aware of in the system.  It is simply a marketing mechanism to make the user feel that they are getting a good deal.  Everything is based off of price (quantiy 1, usergroups all).

Did anyone solve this jet?

I am looking for a solution also

I would like to set op promotions and discount codes that can be applied to an order that includes sale/discounted items and non sale/discount items

This works using the rules and all

But then I need the discount of the code only to effect the non sale/discount items.

Is that possible??

I can't get it to work. Have been trying to sort this out for years.

Can anybody change code or write an adddon for this?

I would buy it at the right price!!!

hope someone can help!

It can be used by store owners to know the RRP from the manufacturer.

Just don't use list price and normal price for discounts. You could use features and promotions as follows:

1. Make a feature called 10% discount and do the same for other percentages

2. Make a promotion - if feature 10% off = yes, discount by 10%

Give the product you want to discount this feature.

Now you can also view all discounted items by simply doing a search.

That's an awesome solution Flow...  As usual, you find a more elegant way to work with cs-cart.

The way I do it: create a category called sale-items. Put products in the sale-items in the category. Then in you promotion logic category not in sale-items.

Hi guys,

I have the same problem as I am wanting to run a 20% storewide promotion, but do not want to offer 20% off already discounted items or volume discounted products.

The coupon code needs to NOT be valid on these items.

I do not want to create a category of sale items as the store has roughly 4,000 products, and about 70% of them were to be part of the sale.

I know about the exclude other promotions, but this really is different.

I have used the promotion category and products and created a sale manually selecting everything I wanted to include and that works fine for a small promotion, but how to get CS-Cart to have a function that does the whole store, except for sale items, existing promotions and bulk discounted products is what I am looking for and hoping there is an addon or something I am just not seeing

Any help appreciated as I am still new to this sort of thing.

cheers
