Switching Http To Https Full Site Rate Topic   - - - - -

Posted 30 March 2017 - 01:17 AM #21

OK I am revisiting this because Google Search Console is still showing only 32 pages indexed. I guess I didn't understand jonbol's advice about adding/verifiying the https version of the site. I've added and verified the https version. Do I now need to use the "change of address" tool to permanently get rid of the non-https version and keep the https version as the verified site?

Or do I just need to keep two versions of the site in Google Search Console--the http version and the https version?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, but your site must have a valid SSLcertificate (not self-signed) and you have to redirect users and search engines to the HTTPS page with server-side 301 HTTP redirects.

Revisiting this again.

I still have two sites in Google Search Console--the original non-SSL version and the SSL version. Is that a problem? I don't see a way to remove the original site from the Search Console. Any help appreciated.

"Manage property > Delete property" doesn't work for you?

I think Google recommends adding all of them even the www and non-wwww.

The way is as described.

If you have a https version, then remove the non ssl one and make a redirection from http > https

I already did the whole "change of address" thing with Google Search Console last year whenever I switched over to SSL. And it was my understanding that when I switched, CS-Cart did all the redirects for me automatically. No?

Yes, that just worked. Didn't know where to find it, so thanks for the help.

Setting your security settings for "full site" will cause a 301 (permanent) redirect from cs-cart to https.  It appears that your site is doing this properly.
