It is my understanding that Simtech is the company that develops cs-cart. But recently Simtech has been selling many addons separately from cs-cart (https://www.simtechdev.com). It is my opinion that many of these addons add core e-commerce functionality that should be built into cs-cart. What is the decision process used to determine if new functionality gets added to cs-cart or added as a separately priced addon? The recent trend of Simtech charging for this new functionality through addons disturbs me. Why aren't these addons included with the new version of cs-cart?
I'd say what happened was cs-cart has invested lots of time (that is $) in to hosted and other collaboration products that do not generate income, now they just need to make a living somehow, as most likely not to many prolong licenses (that is why free license was eliminated) just to solve current and get new bug, people want features actual improvements ..
I agree, I like their addons also. They add really nice functionality. But I feel I am paying twice for everything. Once to have a yearly cs-cart license and again to add new functionality addons, that I believe should be included with a yearly license. I feel Simtech is double dipping.
Please consider including the new basic Simtech addons with cs-cart updates for those that have a yearly license.
I see that you have a lot of questions about the relationship of CS-Cart and Simtech Development, so I would like to give you the official explanation.
Simtech Development, Ltd. and CS-Cart (Simbirsk Technologies, Ltd.) - two independent companies. Simtech Development company was separated from the CS-Cart team in 2012. As successors of CS-Cart we have adopted the best practices of development and partly kept the team. But since then our business is absolutely not connected with the development of CS-Cart kernel and develops in separate direction.
We are engaged in custom development which includes a full range of services from the design to the server management. The purpose of Simtech Development is to provide CS-Cart users with the best specialists to solve their issues. To do this we attach great importance to the recruitment, education and certification of our specialists, the implementation of the development standards.
Only this year we have decided to start the development of the add-ons. Every day we communicate with you, our clients, and understand what you need for the successful store operation. We create the functionality at an affordable price which can be useful for the online businesses. We are very pleased that our add-ons arouse your interest.
As for the inclusion of our add-ons to the default CS-Cart functionality, it is impossible because the CS-Cart team is not in charge of our add-ons development, and all copyright is the property of Simtech Development, Ltd.
Thank you for the clarification. I do hope some of these nice addons and added functionality find their way into the default cs-cart.
It does seem to me, the new Simtech Dev is creating new e-commerce functionality that is better than the new features being built into cs-cart releases. I would hope the core developers take some lessons on what new functionality people want in cs-cart by how popular some of these new addons are, and eventually incorporate them into the baseline.

As per the ebay addon
@oleg, any news when the cs cart order improvements addon will be V4 ready
I'm glad SimTech is in the game. There are great addons from them. I have done some research this weekend and CS-Cart community has become much stronger with SimTech, Webkul and Cart Power teams' add-ons. Gathered around 30 add-ons that I was going to have custom developed so it is a big change for CS-Cart.
