Would These Vps Hosting Specs Suffice For A Cs-Cart Site?

I need to upgrade my hosting from shared to VPS. Can anyone tell me if these specs are sufficient for a CS-Cart installation (looking at the first column with 4GB Dedicated Memory)? My site is small (less than 100 products).

I recommend to choose the plan with 4GB memory and 60GB SSD disk space. I think this option is well suited to you.

Ok thank you.

Ok thank you.

You're very welcome!

Brennie369, how much are you paying for that plan ?

You can have VPS on my dedicated Xen Server with all of that and opt for 12 gig of memory

with Engintron Nginx plus PHP7 installed 120 gb disk space.

Let me know if you are interested.

Perhaps a extra USP is that our server is in Switzerland with better privacy laws than anywhere else.

Hi Mongoose,

My current (shared) hosting is $250 per year plus $99.99 for the SSL Certificate.

Hi Mongoose,

And if I may be so blunt to ask what a VPS at your host would cost you ?

For the one listed and recommended above, about $360.

FYI, cPanel now includes free SSL certs.

FYI, cPanel now includes free SSL certs.

Hi The Tool,

Can you elaborate on that? I contacted my hosting support and they said:

The only free SSLs I am aware of are obtainable from Let's Encrypt: https://letsencrypt.org/

However, we would still need to install it for you. This incurs a one-time fee of $25.00, plus a yearly cost for a dedicated IP address, which is $24.00 per year.

I can't elaborate too much. I noticed that the VPS plans you pointed out offered free cPanel whereas you should also have access to WHM to control your server. WHM is where you can configure if you want the automatic management of cPanel's SSL certs.

Let me be very blunt. I purchased a Supermicro dedicated server that is currently residing in a Datacenter in Zurich Switzerland. I wish I had a few people with whom I could share the monthly cost of the colocation. Right now I have Xen Server as a Hypervisor on the bare metal server and this runs currently two of my virtual machines / virtual private servers. One Windows 2012r2 AND one Cpanel CentOS server but with WHM access where s The Tool pointed out you can generate and manage SSL certificates.

I work with Namecheap and there SSL certs are not only good but also pretty darn good for the price for a domain.

The bare metal server will hold surely two other virtual machines.

Some bare metal specs:

64Gb of 19 Gb currently in use and some 120 GB surely present for a two virtual machines. SSD drives in raid 0.

If someone would like I can setup another VPS on this server just for you, just to fit CS Cart in optima forma.

Hi Mongoose,

My current (shared) hosting is $250 per year plus $99.99 for the SSL Certificate.

$ 20 per month for a shared plan is not usual. What are the specs of it and what it includes? Also a 2048-bits GeoTrust RapidSSL costs about $ 17.00. It doesn't matter who is the issuer, but which encryption they are using.

Hi, who is selling a "server" for USD 10? VPS, or dedicated? If you do mean a shared plan for USD 10 on a server, then you won't have much options to configure your hosting plan as it's pre-configured. Unless you will be allowed to use your own php.ini file, but nobody will allow you to override it to values which will kill the MySQL server or RAM.

For what its worth, invest in a dedicated solution and save yourself the pain of shared hosting environments where one dumb monkeys mistake can ultimately take an entire node down with it.

You get what you pay for and more often than not you get very little in a VPS which over time will annoy and make you regret it.
