is there a way to update the weight on all products without having to go into each product. I seem to remember there was a way to do it in versions 2.X.

Export data, correct csv file in excel and import it back
As alternative, go to the Products -> Products page, select required products, click on the gear icon and select the Edit selected option. You will be able to select Weight field there

i just exported then re-imported but now all the products have doubled up... :?

yes....they all had long SKUs. this is sorted now though..thanks.
