Getting Blocks Lined Up

Something I've struggled with is getting elements/block to sit where I want them.

Take my blog page for example. I've got a 12 width grid. Inside that grid I've dropped an 8 and a 4. In the 8 I've put the blog main content and in the 4, the recent posts menu.

Then underneath I've created another 12 width grid, with an 8 and 4 grids exactly the same as above. Nothing in the 8 grid, and a banner in the 4 grid. I expect the banner to sit underneath the recent posts menu and down the side of the blog. It starts where the blog posts end. How do I get the banner to sit right underneath the recent posts menu?

Try to add HTML block to the empty grid with the following content:

Done, just needed to put the Recent Posts and Banner Block in the same grid. Can't believe you guys didn't know that! :D ;)

Looks like misunderstood the question. Why you cannot just drag and drop block to the top grid?

FYi - that code hid everything on the category pages.
