There is a link at the bottom of every page for "shipping and returns", however, i did not put it there. Right now it is a broken link, and I can't find where to edit it. Is it there by default? How can I remove it? I don't have a page for it right now. I will be putting it back, but i need it removed for now.

Try to find corresponding block in the Footer section on the Design -> Layouts -> Default. It can be simple html block or block with menu items (Design -> Menus)
I looked in there but there is no html and no menu
From your picture it is probably in an html block at the bottom of the footer section on the Default tab. Look for one titled Copyright.

Try to temporary disable the whole Footer section in the block manager and check if the mentioned links are displayed
