User Group Tab Not Present For Administrators

Using v. 4.3.5. I have added a user group and find that when I try to add to an administrator to this group there is no "user group" tab for the administrator. There are two tabs, "General" and "API". The "API" tab has a single check box "API access" to enable. Customers do have the "user groups" tab. How do I get the "user group" tab on administrators? Does it seem like something is broken?

Thanks for any insights.

Are logged in under root administrator account?

Thanks for reply. How does one know if it's a root admin? I assumed mine was. There are several "active" administrators, mostly "active" in the status column is blue. There are two admins for which it is black, including mine. Are these root admins?

I can also disable other admins with this login.

Yes, these admins are root and you cannot apply usergroups to them

Thanks for reply. I don't want to apply user groups to them; I want to apply user groups to other accounts. Do I need to log in from one of those accounts and request membership in the user group?

I have just tested it on demo. Only root admins can specify user groups and only for non-root administrator accounts.

Thanks. Unless the admin I'm trying to add to a group is also root I should be able to add. So this admin must also be root. I will deactivate and create a new user, then make an admin from customer profile. Docs are not clear on this.

I do not see how to add a "customer" user to a user group. There is a user group tab but it is blank and no control for adding anything to the tab.

It works for me on demo:

Please make sure that all customer user groups have the "Active" status in your store

I have created a "supporting administrator" group of type administrator, with limited privileges. My administrator users do not have the user group tab so assigning this group to an existing admin is not possible. I thought that assigning an administrator group to a customer type user would then make that user an administrator. With the administrator group "Supporting Administrators" active I do not have a way of assigning this group to a customer user in the "User groups" tab.

Unfortunately there is no ability to assign administrator user groups to customers

Since none of the admins I logged in with let me add the administrator user group to any other admins, it might be that all my admins are root admins or that the admin I was using is not a root admin. I created a new admin to test with same result. A regular admin can create an admin or can only a root admin do this? What is default type of admin that is created by admin and root admin?

It is required to check the behaviour on your store. Please contact support team or PM me temporary FTP access.

Admins cannot create root admins and cannot assign any user groups to root admins.

If you have several store-fronts, try to play with All stores/ Store-front switcher at the top

We have only one store. I just tried to search the access log for admin entries and although there is data in the recent activity box on admin index page and also when show all button is clicked, when advanced search is clicked searches return no data. If user looks like -

Users (session)
User: nnnnn nnnnnnnnnnnnn; xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxx.com (#4)

- in log, what should be the entry in advanced search to find all activity by this user? I have tried different variants and no data is returned.
