Am I right in thinking with the new version of CS one of you smart guys could develop something of an integration of cs cart and sage line 50 accounts package that we can update our stock levels each day from sage to web? at the moment it only needs to be a one way from our sage to web, as we also take orders on the sage system that dont go via web. Unless of course you tell me it is possible to have them sync which would be ideal
Import and export is no synchronization. Its not a matter of getting orders in but also keep stock levels exact in real time or at least several times a day
Does Sage 50 have an API? If so, why not use it for synchronization every hour from a cron job?
Importing orders can be a pain because the formats are usually so radically different between systems.
But importing and exporting quantities should be relatively straight-forward and you could even do from an intermediary system by using both systems API's. It's all in 3 possible tables; products, ult_products and product_options_inventory (for option combinations).
We have tried to install sage 50 trial to local machine. But at first glance, this software can adjust the synchronization by import/export only.
I think you should first write to the creators of this system. They should know better about best way for synchronization with 3d party systems.
Sage, do have an API but I believe it is only available to developers/Partners under licence and it is not cheap. But as far as I know Sage can be set to do an export CSV automaticaly every few hours.
In an older version I used, I sent this to a server by auto ftp and then synced the data using cron. I had a developer write a php script to update the numbers to an unline database (not CS CART) which sales men accessed to know what stock was available.
And most likely Sage itself and Sage resellers will gave solutions available. Its in the interest of Sage to have this integration available. Resellers often prefer to sell their own integration services, but its worth checking anyway.
It would be nice to see integration in the cs-cart market.
