We're considering switching our entire site to HTTPS (4.3.3). If you've already done this did you have any issues? Do you have any tips and/or suggestions regarding switching to HTTPS?

I asked Tony from EZ Merchant solutions the same thing. He told me just to keep it on Admin side, customer cart, checkout, profile, etc, but leave the rest of the site as http. After weighing all the options, I decided to go ahead and make my whole site secure (I wanted that green bar on my whole site).

Well, it increased my page load time (secure pages roughly double the data exchange), I had issues with page indexing (not sure why), and overall was kind of a pain. Just my experience.

No, it was a year or two ago. What is your current recommendation? I apologize for making that presumption.

Apparently Big G likes you better when your whole site runs https and you double the bandwidth required to view your site. If you rely on Google Rankings then you should run full https.

If you are using the {include file="common/image.tpl" } methods then it will automatically pick up the https. If you are using your own images, suggest they always be full paths and have format of "//images/my_images/foo.jpg". The "//" tells he browser to request the 'protocol' currently in use (http or https).
