Request user group in registration or checkout is also good, possibility for auto confirm user group or admin confirm is also much appreciated.

demeldoo> Why would you need to bother talking over contact us if shipping address is outside EU, meaning its tax exempt by default..

The first one is not a bad idea at all :)

The second You're talking about an automated system which can handle such scenario.its currently not supported. I was real in making a comment knowing the current possibilities.

It's really cool that you guys are listening and adjusting the software actively!
We also had to make changes to the code in order to fix the taxes problem. Right now on the other hand, the TAX column on the invoice is empty (has "-" per each position), even though there are products with taxes.

@imac - have the requirements for EU taxes been added after CSC MV 4.5.2?

The type of customer must be added during registration.
This is what you need for those working in the EU:

a) a non-business customer (who buys products for purposes not related to a company), as long as he inserts his Personal Code / SSN

B) a customer who purchases products that serve his company and / or to resell them, must be able to include in addition to his Personal Code / SSN also the company name and VAT number.

At least that's how it is in Italy

See Image attached

In any case, how can I achieve this?
Thank you all

Yes, you're right, for the moment I will sell only in my country (Italy) so everyone will pay the VAT.
When I open the store across Europe I take your add into consideration.
Excellent your add, thanks.

This is good add on but the problem is that simetimes it is also obligatory to register individual accounts with personal ID number depending on shipping location, For example if you ship to Switzerland, Canary Island and some more the customers must provide thier personal VAT number (means ID). Do you have plans to add this functionality?

Interesting that for a region that is so concerned about privacy (GDPR) that an individual is expected to trust a merchant to store tax id numbers (personal and/or business)?  I must have read this wrong.

No, You are right. The problem in EU that right hand does not care about left hand. One bunch of people created GDPR but tax and customs control has their own rules and regulations depending on country.

Another rediculous thing about GDPR. In order to use your "privacy right" you have to fill in the form with all your data and send copy of your ID. In other words to register on the web you can simply fill in your data but to delete your data you have to fill in special form and send copy of your ID (what a nice privacy protection!).

I still dont understand why this feature is not included in CS-Cart because its mandatory for all EU companies to check VAT validity.

Because it should be an addon.  Same goes for the "include tax in price" stuff.  There's a large part of the world that doesn't need/use these features.  There are tons of Settings in cs-cart that may only apply to particular regions.  Same with company/user fields based on regional reporting requirements.

It can be an official addon like many things are.

This adds another mandatory step to checkout which is bad. Why not let users fill in company name and vat if they want or ignore the fields if they do not want?

Because many customers outside of EU don't even know what VAT is.  It's literally a "foreign concept".  In Canada it is referred to as PST and GST.  Probably other acronyms in other places.

Seems to me that a user's profile could have a checkbox asking if this is a business account.  If checked, then more fields open up to be filled and the admin should have the ability to define the names and whether they are required or not.  If not a business account, then all of it would be hidden.

Then, that data could be integrated into the invoices/packing slips and other reporting as needed.

Since the EU GDPR addon exists anyway may be it is time to move/add all "EU law specific" configuration like VAT, GDPR, COOKIES, WHATEVER ELSE COMING overthere? And If one day this addon is not needed anymore (EUEXIT) just wipe it out!

It can be the easy way to have/manage all EU things together in one place = addon. Meanwhile probably global settings like business and private profile account activation/configuration should be under main settings.

Yes, I was thinking the same. The EU will keep coming with EU specific laws that applies to anyone doing business with the EU. In this sense there is no difference between the GDPR and the EU VAT Directive. EU VAT Directive requires vendors worldwide to collect VAT if they do business with the EU.
