Configure Blog

After a couple of hours I can not configure the Blog addon. After following the directions in the knowledge Base, my Blog just shows a blank page. Without configuring the Blog layout my posts show in full. I would like them to show as described by CS-Cart as shown in the attached image so the Blog image shows with a short description and the link to Read More...

Any ideas on what I am missing? Thanks for any help.

You should create tree of articles. Please check demo website as example:

http://demo.cs-cart.com/admin.php?dispatch=pages.manage&get_tree=multi_level&page_type=B

Thanks for helping me out eComLabs. I am actually a client of yours and you performed the upgrade for me to 4.3.3. I have done as you suggested numerous times. I just get a blank page on my Blog. What I did notice is that my layout choices differ from those on the Cs-Cart demo site. My layout has three choices instead of only two as shown below.

I also had to add the Blog layout because it did not show up on the layout page when the Blog addon was installed. Do you think reinstalling the Blog addon will help or is there another issue? Thanks again for your help.

Please PM me temporary FTP access and we will check the issue

Thanks for the access. You should use the

tag (switch to source code to insert it) to hide part of the post. Only the part above the tag is shown in the list of all posts. We have created several samples on your website. Please check

As is usual eComLabs helped me out and resolved the issue.

You are welcome!

how do you hide the parent entry "BLOG"?

It is showing in my tree with the articles. I can hide that one and it displays like your demo.

BLOG is Root level. All others use parent page as "BLOG".

Why do you want to hide the parent blog article?

I think i may not have typed it correctly.

when we create the parent "Blog" it shows here at the top if we do not hide it yet i notice on the demo store it is not "hidden" yet does not show. Maybe it is because we just created it and the "timeout" for "recent posts" hasn't not passed yet? We didn't realize the tree structure when we started the blog articles and have just recently added "Blog" and set it as root and all other articles to "Blog" as parent.

structurally, it works fine as the bread crumbs are "Home/Blog" as it should be. We are trying to not show the parent article named "Blog" in Recent Posts and don't understand why it's "active" on the demo store but we have to hide it in ours to prevent it from showing.

You should select your Blog page as parent page on the Content tab:

There is no content tab in the blog. There is a content tab in the website -> Content but the "Blog" named page does not show there.

This is created in Website->Blog

Parent page "Root Level Page" only option.

Blog Articles Website-> BLog

article 1 - Parent Page "Blog"

article 2 - Parent Page "Blog"

It's ok... we have it working by hiding the root level page named "Blog." I'm just not sure why it shows up in the list of recent articles if unhidden.

It should be done on block manager.

Thank you eComLabs.

Now it makes sense. We created the blog as a new page so we can control the look and feel.

I'll just keep the parent hidden so it doesn't show up on the "recent posts" section. So many ways to do the same things in CSC
